Yes. That's the only one for the time being. I swiped RM5,900 for a treadmill last Friday around 3pm. I did not win the RM30 though  cry.gif

coz some1 else swipe RM5,900.10 in the same minute with u! sweat.gif

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Dec 23 2010, 06:43 PM)
That thought did cross my mind before but i quickly dropped it. I think it is quite a hassle to open yet another savings account with another bank. I simply am too lazy too keep track of my accounts from a few different banks. Never mind. I'll wait for a few more months and reapply for it. Credit line i am seeking is RM10,000 only and i will write this request down in the application form next time i apply for their card. I have the tendency only to pay up my credit card bill on the last day of my due date. So i will need RM10,000 of credit line from OCBC to make sure the card still can go through despite there is an outstanding  biggrin.gif
*
same here. dont want to open too much bank account. and same style too, wait for last day of due date to pay smile.gif

and when u urself usually go to cdm to pay credit card let say on each 18 day of the month, then u will make that as a habit whistling.gif

Guys, Merry X'mas! Have a quick question to CIMB Direct Access card holders. The i.Pay Plan that gives installments to all retail purchases will expire on 31st Dec 2010. I'm a new card holder since July 2010, from your past experience, does this promotion will come again next year? Or this is its first and last time doing this? As far as I know they had once in 2009 too right? Please enlighten me.
*
i've been using DA since Southern Bank smile.gif
usually the promo will continue.
like fuel rebate. always shows end by 31/12/XXXX but then continue to end of next year and continue and continue thumbup.gif

if read at http://www.pbebank.com/en/en_content/image..._flexipay10.PDF

the terms said u need to sms "3 days after the purchase is made and 5 days before the next statement date".
but u said "I bought something .. and straightaway I sent a sms"?

u should sms after 3 days of the purchase, or after the transaction appear (in online recent transaction).

now in my opinion, u need to sms again

u need to convert it urself.
call the bank 5 days after the purchase transaction date and must be 5 days before the next statement date.

only during this promo time (till 31/3/2011), there is no 1 upfront fee.

i read about Citibank-Shell CC and as i understood that its good for me... as i use shell and "interested in purchasing stuff by installment"

so depending on your experience and i mean all of you guys... is that card any good... and how easy for a foreigner to apply for such a card... baring in mind that my annual income is slightly over 20k...

please advice guys
*
err... for me, dont go for citibank shell sweat.gif

the reason:
1. annual fee is rm90/year (classic).
2. considered u wont have outstanding (even this is the way it should be), u can only get 1.5% fuel rebate.
3. i assume u want to use citibank flexi payment for installment. but they charge 9.88% p.a!

like ronnie said, the best card for fuel rebate is ocbc (5%), but like winner replied, the requirement is rm36k/year notworthy.gif

so, if u still want to pump shell, i advise u go for rhb travel money - http://www.rhb.com.my/cards/credit-card/cc...money_main.html
requirement is rm18k/year (same as citibank classic).

the reason (compare with citibank):
1. annual fee is rm70/year (rm20 cheaper than citibank).
2. 5% cash back on the 1st weekend and 2% cash back on other days at ANY petrol station nationwide.
3. rhb got "Dial-An-Instalment", 6 months charge is 3%, 12 months is 7.5% (still cheaper than citibank).

oh for new cardmember, swipe 1st time amount of rm100 within 45 days, u will get rm50 cashback (consider it to cover 1st year gst).

any ideas on how to get rebate from HSBC CC???As to date after 2 years, never received any rebate form them...
*
only hsbc amanah give u rebate, 0.5% (except petrol).

for non-amanah card, hsbc give rebates only during promo, and usually u need to sms to participate.

but now the current promo no need to sms, just spend between 10am-10pm.
if u the highest spender within a minute, u get rm30 cashback. they will sms u after 2-3 days if u won it.

hsbc plat-i (hsbc amanah) that give 0.5% rebate (except petrol) & 1% cashback swipe oversea.
normal hsbc plat only give u reward points (3x if swipe oversea).

for me, the bad thing for this card are the reward points. can redeem ONLY for car-related goods & services.

normal ambg card can redeem 30k points for rm150 cash rebate, or 11k points for rm50 voucher of giant/jusco/parkson/kfc

Well, somehow HSBC CC agent at Midvalley is doing this kind of promo. At the counter where they are doing the Christmas Token redemption.
Maybe for existing plat holder i guess.
*
i am existing hsbc holder. never heard such promo.

but, hsbc do offering = 3x reward points for swipe oversea, and on top of that, 1% cashback if u are top 100 oversea spender.
this promo (1% cashback) need to sms, and end at 31/12/2010 (just another 3 days~).

while for "waived RM50 tax upon first annual usage", he means u can waived the gst on 2nd year based on 1st year annual usage.
BUT, ur 1st annual usage must be rm9500 (if local, except petrol). so u can use 9500 points to redeem gst whistling.gif

maybe, maybe, the sales agent just doing his 'job' to get customer sweat.gif

QUOTE(gerrardling @ Dec 28 2010, 03:57 PM)
is citibank offer 0% for BT also ?
*
YES & NO.

YES - All bank offer 0% installment BT for certain period (6/12/18/24/36/48 months), including citibank.

NO - they have 1 TIME UPFRONT CHARGES (some bank charge X% per month like maybank).
but some bank do offer FREE BT.

example:
cimb/DA 6 months = FREE.
cimb/DA 12 months = 1%.
pbb 12 months = 1.5%.
pbb 24 months = 5%.
maybank 3 months = FREE.
maybank 24 months = 0.375% per month (this is X% per month), so 24 months is 9%.
citibank? 12 months = 7.88% doh.gif

yeah you are right i mainly interested on fuel related point or rebates because that is the main spending that i may need... more than that for shopping not really but it might happen once in a while...

honestly its confusing
the cards that have more rebates they charge more for annual fees or they require more income...

anyway still reading to collect more info at least i will not make a stupid choice that i will regret it...

Card Service Tax Redemption

You can also use your BonusLink Points to offset your annual MBF Cards Card Service Tax.

100% Redemption BonusLink Points Required
Principal 2,500
Supplementary 1,250

http://www1.mbfcards.com/bonuslink-reward-program.html

quite good leh since RM10 get 3 bonuslink points already, so only need to spend RM800 to waive gst
*
correction! its not rm800 but rm8340!

its calculate exactly rm10 = 3 points. not rm10 = 3.333 points.
rm8340 = 2,502 points.
rm800 = 240 points only.

other bank that offer gst waiver with points:

hsbc: 9,500 points. swipe oversea get 3x. so if swipe oversea, only need around rm3200.
amex gold: 10,000k points. amex gold can get 5x points at petrol, groceries & bill payment. so swipe rm2000 already can waived gst.

Amex and HSBC should not be counted for service tax waiver, as you need to use your hard-earned points to exchange for the service tax payment.

Other banks such as SCB and OCBC (just to name a few) offer you free points to compensate or offset the service tax payment. That's the real service tax reimbursement.
*
yes i know this.

BUT, kei18kun talking about "use your BonusLink Points to offset your annual MBF Cards Card Service Tax".
not bank that offer free cashback to offset gst smile.gif

so i just give another example of bank that offering points to offset gst notworthy.gif

QUOTE(hye @ Dec 28 2010, 04:52 PM)
Agreed. Many folks here always equate using hard earned points (e.g you need to spend to get points) as service tax waiver.
Actual meaning of waiver means the bank offer compensation to offset the tax.

Again ... I would like to reiterate that the selection of credit card of choice should never be based on freebies or offer to offset service tax waiver. (Most cards are generally free in one form or another) It should be based on what you want to get out of your spending habits. E.g. Points, cash rebates, air miles etc. A good place to think about your choices would be the first page.
*
again, this is bcoz kei18kun post "use your BonusLink Points to offset your annual MBF Cards Card Service Tax".

nvm.

bank usually only give cashback (either need to spend certain amount or just activated the card) to waived 1st year gst.
bank wont offer compensation for gst on 2nd year.

except ocbc card, yes, on top of cashback, if u swipe 10k in previous year, they will give FREE 10k annual bonus points to waived the gst on next year thumbup.gif

but, maybank did gave me FREE 10k tp to redeem gst this year whistling.gif
of coz, this year is the 1st year gst charged. next year wont think they will give me another free 10k tp sweat.gif
