Each individuals has the own preference of choosing the wise and favorite titles that they insist should own.

Most, if not all, of Criterion's releases are critically-acclaimed movies. Seven Samurai, for instance, is on many 'Top 100 Movies of All Time' lists [and topping thoses lists too!].
Most of the reviews on their releases are also very good. So far I don't think there has been any bad reviews and complaints on the transfer, special features, etc. 
Only downside is that most of their releases are bloody expensive 
Perhaps what you're saying is that Criterion's releases are too artsy-fartsy for the regular joes who get their fix on Scott Pilgrim vs The World...
In that case, you may well be right, brother 

For me, I won't recommend any Criterion collection as not all people can accept. I normally also watch once for those criterion movies as it is too deep for most of it.

An update on one of my 2 m.i.a BF parcels. i've contacted Amazon and requested for a replacement order but they just refund my total amount because the titles are not in stock at the moment... the titles are: Showgirls & The Scorpion King... btw, this parcel was despatched via iParcel; so hopefully it'll turn up eventually!

Tomorrow is my turn.  First, is Spartacus: Blood and Sand - The Complete First Season [Blu-ray] (2010) and second is Avatar (Three-Disc Extended Collector's Edition + BD-Live) [Blu-ray] (2009).

Fortunately, both still got stock.    For sure, I will insist for replacement copy.

Despicable Me slipcover is one of the best i've seen.

Avatar the earlier edition? Inception , the Lenticular slipcover which impresses.
