Hi,

Need some guide here.
Is that necessary the AVR must have Dolby Digital/DTS HD function then only able to play the DTS-HD sound in bluray?

I have recently bought a player but need to confirm whether i need to upgrade my AVR then only able to activate the true DTS HD sound. I personal get a "jack sparrow" bluray & tried. & i dont find any difference on the sound quality compare to DVD plus i cant change the audio option ( usually on screen u can choose dts, doble digital, ).

will this scenario due the disk or the AVR. I wanna make sure before go for ori bluray since kind of expensive to me.

sorry,  i am new. Need the sifus here to guide.

Thanks

Is that mean i need to change the AVR?

of cos you will need a AVR that can decode lossless audio codecs (Dolby TrueHD/DTS HDMA) to play HD tracks.

else just stick with lossy audio (Dolby Digital/DTS)

Anyone knows how to remove glue on steelbooks! The Malaysian Avatar and Salt steelbooks are lovely but the stickers are so irritating. sad.gif

steelbook ink surface is quite sensitive to scratches, im not sure if gluegone will affect the ink surface. the best on top of my head right now would be using a lighter. just lightly aim the flame at sticker surface & it might loosen or melt the gum & it'll peel itself. just give it a try... nod.gif

Spray some WD40 on it. Wait for 30 seconds and then wipe it off. I do that to clean sticky adhesive left behind from my steelbook all the time.

Just watched 3:10 to Yuma... I never knew it was great movie... now I know... great PCM 7.1 audio... however the surround channel not that active...

BUT.. another movie that was a surprise to me on the 7.1 DTS HD audio is "Killers".. great sound especially on the surround & LFE. However the movie itself just a so-so but still entertaining.

It's a fantastic movie, and the PQ of the BD is top class. You should check out the special features, especially Historical Timeline of the West and Outlaws, Gangs, & Posses

Sorry a bit off topic but to understand it better... are there players that can send bitstream or PCM to the AVR so that the OP doesn't need to get a new AVR but instead a new player?

BTW noticed black hawk down still selling 7.99 despite selling for almost twice the price early last month during lightning deal.
