I had spent time looking for a cheap cage too but kinda regret it. Initially wanted to buy condo (RM350) for both my rabbits but they seem to attack each other (unspayed, territorial), so i ended up separating them. the rabbits were bought in banting with cage (RM35) small ones, i wanted to get a bigger one for them. Petsmore RM55 (during promo) but not very big. Then i saw a bigger one at a local aquarium shop and bought it (RM45). Bad decision, as my bunny keep biting the cage and the paint is being torn off! so ended up, have to get another cage! cry.gif
*
i know what you mean. im also planning to expand bigger cage, those tahan karat type.
but my dad says not necessary since we let her out almost the whole day. she has free run of the garden and house.
funny thing is when shes out in the garden she always goes back to the cage to do her business. when shes in the house she does her business in the house...have to guide her back to the cage. rclxub.gif

my rabbit is acting weird.
she stands on her hind legs and grabs my leg with her front paws.
then she rubs her face and tries to bite/nibble (cant tell, cos i always pull my leg away before she sinks her tooth in) me. i'll run but she'll chase me.
shes also starting to "lick" (more like groom) me.

is she in heat or looking for a mate?

thinking of spaying her ard nov/dec after exam. looks like i have to bring forward...

normal feeding time is 8.45-9am. woke up late yesterday n today (no class yawn.gif ). only fed about 10am.
i opened her cage and she rushed out and grabbed my leg. very scary.... icon_question.gif

licking part has extended to whichever limbs are near. she even lick between toes and fingers. rclxub.gif

oh yeah thats another possibility. when my rabbit is hungry and he sees someone through the glass doors. he will start banging and scratching. especially in the morning when its pellets time. he loves his pellets.
*
mine too. she'll growl if you dont open her door...

does anyone know how to keep rabbits warm?

in the morning when i feed her i usually feel the ears and its cold. when shes eating it warms up.
im not sure if shes cold or if its normal.

the cage is currently outside.
i used coroplast to cover the side and half the back.
theres also a big plastic to cover everything except the front. the front is facing the sliding door. theres also a golf umbrella.
made her a square "tent" n i covered the bottom with towel.
she has her hay nearby. she sits like a "hen" near the outer part of the "tent".
not sure if this is enough or if i should add a "door" to keep the wind out.
if it rains heavily + strong winds then i'll put her in the carrier in my room.

if the rabbit if living outside and not indoors then u need a denbox for it.
if you using wood make sure it is untreated, unpainted, etc. barewood but without splinters, u might need to sand it off.
if you using a cardboard box is also okay but make sure its thick.
put hay inside and make sure the opening doesn't have direct draft.
it might be messy but since it's outdoors it is ok.

her tent is made of cloth. will sew a door with a hole.
she doesnt like "stiff" things in her cage.
i tried putting cardboard box she bite and pull. came out fr the wire (forgot what its called).

Snowy started digging holes yesterday.
Today it was plucking the grass and putting it in her cage .
Then just now she started pulling her fur which freaked me out a bit until i did a search and said it was normal for a female to do that even though they aren't pregnant (false pregnancies).

what should/n't i do?
I've add more hay.
i've got oxbrow papaya tablets. how often can i give her or should i even give her?
how about handling her? i often cradle, stroke and give her head rubs are these ok or it'll stress/frighten her?
how about cleaning her cage? i know to leave the grass and fur. how long should i leave it?
I cleaned her toilet just now and she was ok with it.

If she has not come in contact with a buck, most probably is false pregnancy. It is common for intact doe to go through this and if you do not want it to happen again, you may consider spaying Snowy.

Supplements can be given daily.

Handling often is good so that Snowy will get attached and accustomed to handling. Easier for nail clipping in the long run. General rule of thumb, clean out cages once a week thoroughly. Clean toilet as soon as the bedding get soaked or overload with poo.
Thanks.

Shes the only rabbit. I'm always thinking but I havent got the time. Mum or Dad are always busy cant fix a time to go with me.

Shes VERY attached to EVERYONE & ANYONE. She'll lick you when she wants to be stroked or given head rubs. If you don't she'll nip you until you do.
Shes not afraid of guests and even goes to sniff and lick them. rclxub.gif
She even gets overexcited and binkys around. Sometimes I have to lock her up.
It's like she thinks shes a dog. doh.gif

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE. Buns and their owners.
From me Snowy and me.

thanks...
thats when i caught her collecting grass. it was time to cut the grass anyway so i let her be.
we originally fenced the grill door to prevent her from going out but she bit a hole big enough for her to go through.
so now she goes in and out the house through it. we named it the "snowy's door".

eli,
i passed by a pet shop and saw a dog house with what i think is a tray at the bottom.
but only half of it has "bar" flooring. the other half is flat flooring.
the whole thing is made of plastic.

i'm in a dilemma of whether to spay.

called up a few vets to see if they do spaying for female rabbits and the costs.
one of it, the person (nurse?) asked me how many rabbits i have, how old and why i want to spay it.

i told her i only have one. a yr old and it was to
1. better litter train her (does it anywhere in the house except for the garden and cage-unless shes in it rclxub.gif )
2. prevent cancer and other resulting sickness
3. shes also starting to pull her fur (not that its a problem to me)
4. what i read fr internet - prevent cancer, less aggressive, longer life

she told me it's not advisable/necessary since
1. only one
2. litter training depends - can worsen (i read that there are cases that takes longer to re-train and some just cant be re-trained?)
3. chances of cancer is low
4. can become even aggressive

shes basically telling me the opposite.
she did say if i really want it, then they will do it but her advice is not to do it.
im not so sure right now. i think if i really want to spay her now would be the best time rather than postponing it longer, i'll never get it done.

my rabbit poo and pee in her sleep. should i be worried?

in the afternoon she gets to sleep in the house where its cooler. she'll be on her side in deep sleep. then you can see 2-3 poop and some liquid.
sometimes i carry her and she'll drift off to sleep. when shes in deep sleep, she'll start peeing but not much.

is this normal?

Never seen that before. Better get her checked out by the vet. Could be something with the neurons....

I tried to google and nothing came up too.
Was thinking of taking her tomorrow anyways to find out about spaying her.
My sis said that Snowy had a full bladder and cos she was in deep sleep she relaxed to much she peed. rclxub.gif mad.gif
