Hi all, I will be attending a job interview for a post in the Talent Acquisition team in KPMG. Previously, I've been through the verbal reasoning and numerical reasoning test(almost died coz of the time cap...) Would really appreciate if any seniors can contribute info in regards of working under HR in KPMG. Thanks!

Is EY's REC department good? Comparing to the other departments, which is the best department?

Hi all, I have a bit of a query here. Do all the Big 4 provide the following:

- Work laptop ( I was just thinking if I need to buy a new laptop for work)
- Mobile + call allowance
- Annual CPA Aust membership subscription + sponsorship of the program?

Also, if I submitted my resume along with my transcript do I still need to bring my transcript along to the interview?

Many thanks.

Laptop - all auditors get one. If you're in other line of service maybe you get one, maybe you don't. Instead you will get desktop.

Mobile allowance - fixed amount every month.

Annual subscription and sponsorship - Paid for you, but bond with them for 4 years. If you break the bond then you have to pay back the sponsorship money.

In PwC, IBM thinkpads and HP Elites. Don't be too happy about it, they're in bad condition tongue.gif

Phone allowance RM60, but to get it you need to have your handphone number listed in your business card aka your clients can call you anytime, anywhere

Haha I see. I guess it's better to get another phone number.

Is it true that the auditors/accountants don't interact much with people? Do you think such career suits a quiet person?

Wrong. You have to be able to deal with DIFFICULT people, generally all the time. Dealing with people must be natural to you, because we are a service industry. smile.gif

1. Laptop will be provided, so you can cancel your plan of getting new laptop.
2. Depends on which firm, in ey we don't hv such allowance.
3. Yes, with contract to bond you for 4 years.
4. Official transcript is a must no matter what.

Hope it helps clarify your answer! Cheers

I cannot understand this, why is everyone focusing on short term benefits like allowances, laptops and blah blah blah? Why no one now asks which firm can offer better career opportunity, work exposure or work that can build up my skillets? My two cents worth

+1

During my interviews I didn't even touch salary/allowances. I only asked about industry exposure, breadth of experience and training/study support. I like to think just focusing on those helped me get through all my interview stages. Because honestly, between two equal candidates, if A asks about what the job can do for him in the long term and B talks about monetary compensations/benefits, I'd pick A over B any day. Everyone wants more money, but at least A is looking at the bigger picture.

What's so hard to understand? Talking about Big 4 here hallo! Many candidates applying to those firms would have already done their research, even reading 41 pages of this thread has given me a huge in sight of each firm. You talk like everyone only cares about salary. Duh!

Please clarify - are u saying that (a) money is not the only thing as 41 pages of thread would have covered other concerns or (b) what's so difficult to understand that money and benefits are all important thing?

And also, u r working in Big 4?

I was responding to your previous accusation about EVERYONE only focuses on short term benefits etc.! What I see is a post by me asking about laptop, allowances etc. is enough to offend you and led you to the accusation. How about you go and read through the whole thread and see whether EVERYONE was only discussing about salary and allowances and other money related stuff.
