Hey everyone..may i ask what is da meaning of repositories? i read da first page, and say we should add it/install it? but i don really wat's for and wat it is... ><

Thanks a lot in advance~ biggrin.gif

It's like Maemo's own App Store. All free btw
There are 3 repos/For general users just enabling extra repo is enough.

i wanna ask..hw is d transfering speed for this otg???
*
Much slower than transferring with computer. But that's expected due to the difference of hardware.

Remove fcam & reinstall it.

Use WinSCP to trabsfer files.

here's the guide

http://wiki.nitdroid.com/index.php?title=N900-Autoinstaller

but, if u want to partition the emmc (32GB), i'd suggest u do it using GParted..u will need to have linux machine (ubuntu/linuxmint/fedora) installed on your PC..or, you can do it the easy way,

boot from GParted live cd..

here's the tutorial..
http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showthread.php?tid=26629

i formatted my microSD using GParted live CD..i have yet to partition the eMMC internal memory..still waiting for uboot to be stable..i prefer to avoid multiboot though..
*
I guess I'll use GParted to make my life easier.

I'll do this as soon as my exams finish.

Because there's no hardware acceleration but maybe if you overclock to let's say 950 like sifu Aspire, Flash content should run a lot better. smile.gif
*
Adobe 10.2 beta for PC is out.Irony is only IE 9 seems to take full advantage of it.
10.1 is more like beta for the hardware acceleration support.10.2 will have much better support.

Will Nokia skip the 10.1 update & straight away give 10.2? drool.gif

QUOTE(jananan @ Dec 1 2010, 07:42 PM)

i haven't tried to manually replace the libflashplayer.so yet, it might work...

Don't think it'll work...

I have around 6 days to prevent my sister from buying iPhone. So far all my efforts are futile. She understand about the OS limitation & still prefer iPhone because of the AppStore..

guys.. still blur here.. please put ur reply in layman terms...

done a few checks here and there.. im still blur about KERNEL..  care to elobrate guys..

and Y is it important to have kernel power 46 for Nitdroid..  (correct me if im wrong)
*
If you really new to NITDroid just plugin your SD card & use the AutoInstaller to install NITDroid.
Mess around with for few days.
If you are confortable with using NITdroid but ready to move NITDroid to internal memory use the guide posted few pages ago.

QUOTE(gyianz @ Dec 2 2010, 04:11 PM)
OK
Kernel v46 is for maemo
NITDroid dont use v46

When u install NITDroid, it somehow flashes ur MAEMO kernel back to original so no v46
U need v46 to OC ur maemo
TQ rclxms.gif
*
There are some NITDroid related files in kernel-power but I forgot what are things.
But it should be perfectly possible to install NITDroid without kernel-power.

Thanks guys..

yes im new to Nitdroid... Sifu SEA when ur reffering to the Autoinstaller ur reffering to the one which is available through Fapman / App manager rite..

then from there just follow the instructions aaa?
*
I think so...I never tried the FAPman method. If that didn't work use the FP method.

Thanks.. i forgot to install kernel-power settings
THis is my kernel settings
kernel-config load lv
kernel-config limits 250 1000

I saved but when boot it states an error unable to boot custom kernel config

Use 500 - 1000 clock setting. It'll be much more responsive.

Maemo 5 supports Flash 9.4
Majority of the sites now requires users to have flash 10.1 supported browser to browse through flash content. However in real usage these sites don't exactly utilize flash 10.1 functions.
There is a trick to make the sites recognize Maemo's flash 9.4 as flash 10.1.It's simple trick really you can watch youtube/facebook videos.

About Android,
No matter how good your OS is you always want to try out other OS in market. And some nerds here(me included) loves to take things to next level by installing Android in our devices & try to improve with out method. It's merely hobby. Some install NITDroid to use Android's apps & games.

No matter how many mobile OS out there,Maemo is truly one of a kind which will never bore any hardcore users.

Use Nokia Software Updater. But it that fails you have go back to Manual Flasher.

Download the Maemo Flasher 3.5 tool from same site
Download the 1st image.
Rename to R.bin
Put the file in Program files\maemo\flasher-3.5 folder
Open Maemo Flasher 3.5
Turn off your phone
Keep pressing "U" on your keyboard while inserting the USB cable(make sure you plugged the another end at your PC!)
Copy paste this command at maemo Flasher 3.5 program -> flasher-3.5.exe -F R.bin -f -R

Your device will reboot after some time.

Up to you if you want to flash the internal memory aka eMMC

All this process is very2 similar. We have over 160 users & most of them agree that FP method made manual flashing really easy.

Why knowing manual flashing method important?
Because unlike any other phone in market N900 is software wise unbrickable. If there is something wrong with your OS a reflash should solve it.
99% of time N900's defect are hardware defect.

P/S:After few days in iPhone subforum,I can say for sure you'll never get this kind of help at that subforum.

Go to Menu
Tap "Settings"
Tap "Bluetooth"
Turn on your bluetooth
Tap "Devices"
Tap "New" & make sure your headphone/earphone or whatever you call it on.
After that just synch your headphone/earphone & it'll save your device.

So next time if you want to use your headphone/earphone all you have to do is turn on your bluetooth at your phone 1st & then turn of your headphone/earphone.
It'll be automatically paired.

Hello,

im in the middle of upgrading firmware. Cant understand this:
Step 4 Extract and install the Maemo flasher tool
Step 5 Copy R.bin & RE.bin files to C:/Program Files/maemo/flasher-3.5 directory

step 4 Q: Where to get maemo flasher tool?
step 5 Q: Is it C:/ for windows? Copy those 2 files in windows partition C?
*
step 4 Q(Ans):You'll find Maemo Flasher 3.5 at the same firmware update site - http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/nokia_N900.php
step 5 Q(Ans):Yes.Download the "RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin",rename it to R.bin ; download "RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin" & rename it to RE.bin
Copy both the files to Program Files/maemo/flasher-3.5

The reason why I suggest you to rename the two files is because it'll make your life much easier while typing
If you on Windows PC normally your windows partition will be C.Copy the 2 files into the directory which you install maemo flasher.

+1

Just buy a RM5 pouch so there won't be any scratch if you leave the phone inside your pocket.
Other than that you can use the phone naked.

first is to OC in Nitdroid...

OC-ing NITDroid is easy...Refer to FP.

QUOTE(one1002 @ Dec 4 2010, 04:45 AM)
read my thread in tmo, under N900, i did ask for proper documentation for uboot, but the maintaner of uboot told that currently uboot is only configurable for dual boot btween maemo and meego..

but it doesnt mean that uboot cannot be configured for other kernel/os, it can..but u have to do it via hard way..and i mean really hard..

SEA, try experimenting with the tutorial i gave u about configuring uboot in pm..i know it wasnt so clear..but, that's the best i can help..i have yet to try it myself..as i am currently very bz.. sorry though..

last time i tried, it wasnt successful..

here's an advice..if letsay u often boot into other kernel such as power46,nitdroid, or meego..i'd suggest u use uboot..its hard..i knew that..i tried..

but if u dont boot into other kernel that often, u r better off with multiboot..like for example, booting into nitdroid once in 2 or 3 days..or other power kernel, so yeah..multiboot makes ur life easier..

unless u boot into nitdroid or other kernel twice a day, then i strongly advise u to try and configure until u manage to boot using uboot..

as u know, using multiboot too often will damage the NAND flash..unlike multiboot, uboot doesnt flash into other kernel/os, but rather, it LOADS the kernel/os from the specific path that u need to configure yourself...so it involves a lot of work and trial&error..
*
Trouble is I don't know head & tail of the uboot.I have to start with your guide 1st.

QUOTE(nncl @ Dec 4 2010, 12:29 PM)
what the good of uboot?  any different with multiboot? look like many people want it badly
*
Simply say multiboot will flash the NAND memory to load the kernel of the OS.Some claim(in theory it's true) that this will reduce the lifespan for the NAND memory.
uboot will simply load the kernel from saved location & won't affect NAND memory.
