Did you bother to read this post in V8 before posting your fail post here?

Some of the stuff in FP is slightly outdated.I'll be updating them very soon.

I'm looking for some members who make make a decent guide on these stuff
1)NITDroid in eMMC
2)MeeGo in eMMC
3)webOS games installation in new partition
4)Intro to uboot

Most probably there will be some discussion on these 4 topic during this weekend. We'll see whether any progress made.

Try removing the kernel power, disable extra-devel,refresh the repos & install kernel power v42.
If that work then proceed with enabling back extra devel & try install back v46

Should be.Even if the files not fully removed you can delete the files manually.

QUOTE(mashimarow @ Nov 25 2010, 06:01 PM)
I see that before, but putting in front page will make it a one stop setup for N900 without having to search whole Internet for different kind of solution

Will add it soon.

Oh my god...The iPhone limitation seriously sucks doh.gif
Even to transfer a single mp3 file need to use iTunes?
C'mon...How hard it is to integrate the USB Mass Storage mode? doh.gif

I'm going to try brainwash my sister this weekend shakehead.gif

N900 is sooooo much easier to navigate.

Added on November 26, 2010, 8:38 pmand my NITdroid is super smooth in eMMC now... after some tweaking and removing unneeded stuff...

running at 750Mhz

removed all the unneeded stuff, fresh boot RAM avail = 130MB

smooth browser operation + flash 10.1

smile.gif
*
Still on multiboot or migrated to u-boot?

QUOTE(jananan @ Nov 26 2010, 08:43 PM)
1000Mhz fixed at that voltage wont let the n900 cool down...

it wont burn out immediately but surely long term thermal issues...

if its got a big heatsink and fan then even 1500Mhz is ok... but its all packed in and no ventilation...

the actual processor temp can get very very high....

the s/w that reads temp from N900 is reading battery temp, not the processor temp, dont be fooled...

+1

My battery indicator acting funny now...
Totally dried my battery today.Recharged back as usual(the led indicator working fine).
But at the task tab the battery still on 0% rclxub.gif
No problem with the battery because my phone still working as usual.

Anyone know any command to kickstart back the battery indicator?

you can try the 'hal-device bme' command to see actual percentage....

Added on November 27, 2010, 2:05 ammy NITdroid is blazing fast now....

in fact its getting faster than Maemo...

i hacked out all the unnecessary stuff....

since i use as tablet only....

boot time is superb as well...
*
Tried it already...
Doesn't make any difference..

Sigh...I guess another reflash is in order...I do have to reflash anyway because I'm planning to move NITDroid into eMMC.

What things did you removed from NITDroid?

MicroB is still the best...

tons of unneeded google apps preinstalled on it...

imho, android is simpler than maemo... easier to get rid of unwanted stuff...

most of the apps stay in the system as compressed files. easier to remove..

maemo apps are installed same way as desktop linux and the files are scattered everywhere...
*
Will try it soon...
v 0.0.9 nowhere in sight doh.gif

Just add the connection/unix id/unix password manually.Once you try to connect you need to typr the unix passward & walla you'll be in.

QUOTE(gyianz @ Nov 28 2010, 05:08 PM)
YEAP sifu... v46 and nitdroid together.. seems to work fine so far... however the battery bar in NITDroid shows higher percentage compared to the one showed in MAemo
*
Yup.I noticed it too.

QUOTE(jananan @ Nov 28 2010, 05:33 PM)
yes, the NITdroid battery meter....  brows.gif

Maemo battery meter pun sama... not accurate....  vmad.gif

and NITdroid charging is sporadic.... it will charge when it feels like charging.... u keylock/screensaver and it wont charge....

so i switch it off and charge everytime....

sometimes charging in NITdroid wont go over 90%...
*
+1
No idea whether proper charging will ever be made with NITDroid...

Time to reflash...

I'm still skeptical about using multiboot patch. As jananan point out there is limit to how many times NAND memory can be flashed.
uboot is better option but the configuration part is doh.gif

^Well that's what the manufacturers say...

Even SSD drivers will have some issues after severe writing action for a long time.
Constant flash is more or less similar to writing torture.

Can it run uboot?

Nah..You can use NITDroid. It's just we want the safest route...
In theory uboot is like GRUB for desktop linux? It should be possible to run other OS with proper kernel configuration.

*
Before you booth your phone slide open your keyboard.
Now there should be 3 boot option.Press 2(if you didn't modify the boot option that is) to choose Maemo(kernel power).
Now there should be Maemo with kernel power.

Somehow NITdroid apps behave like spyware, installing tons of background apps that spy on you and carry usage information back to the developer and and back to you. Even when the apps are not running.

Simply put, you need tons of RAM and ghz processor speed.

Maemo apps are much more cleaner.

Android is becoming worse than Apple apps.

Ad supported apps are not my cup of tea esp. on limited hw like mobile

phones and tablets.
*
Can you list down some of the apps. We'll try to avoid it.

Removing the particular compressed file of the app related file in NITDroid partition will remove the Google's apps right?

I think for now I'll just partition my MyDocs to 3 partition.NITDroid,MeeGo & rubbish partition.
neopwn have to wait for another day.

QUOTE(jananan @ Nov 30 2010, 12:16 AM)
yes removing the apk will solve the problem, but most apps do install and start their own service, even though i dont see the need for it.

just installing few apps and programs fills up N900's RAM, you read that right, not executing apps, just installing them fills up the memory (RAM)

and since programs dont really quit, it just gets pushed back, unless you always go and kill each task.

imho, maemo is the best mobile OS when it comes to RAM management. programs actually quit when you stop executing, apart from daemons.

i hope meego does not end up like android or worse iOS.
*
That's weird...Maybe the apps initialize itself?
That's why most of the Android users need specific task killing app.

Indeed Maemo's RAM management is very good. Not to mention we actually have a proper way of closing app through the "x" button. With Android & iOS most of the time you need the godlike buttons to escape from the app(not closing)
