Such an insult to Australia, so much FIFA wanting football for every corner of the earth... Apparently Oceania isn't part of earth under FIFA's books

But for 2010, New Zealand played Bahrain If im not mistaken. |

But for 2010, New Zealand played Bahrain If im not mistaken. OceaniaQualification in Oceania is composed of two rounds. The first round took place at the 2007 South Pacific Games, with the top 3 teams advancing to a final round group stage with New Zealand. The winner of the final group stage (New Zealand) will then play against the winner of the playoff between the two 3rd-placed Asian sides for a spot in the finals. This is a major change from the initial FIFA information on Oceania's qualification which suggested inclusion in the second Asian group stage. this is from Wikipedia so it had been changed...but then again, i think following the Oceania route is still easier than following the longer Asia qualifying rounds? |

The fact is Oceania doesn't have a fixed spot for World Cup, and it's a danger because the play-off is a gamble. For example, Australia needed a penalty shootout to qualify for 2006 (one of the last country to qualify), but by winning the AFC group stages they ended up being on of the first countries to qualify for 2010.

What i dont understand is the world cup in qatar. You dont even have to be cynical to wonder if FIFA were more interested in money than anything else.. |

If racism is the measure whether or not a country gets the WC, then USA, England, Qatar and in fact, every single country won't deserve it.What i dont understand is the world cup in qatar. You dont even have to be cynical to wonder if FIFA were more interested in money than anything else.. Apart from occasional crazy hobos and bogans, I don't really encounter race issues from my everyday Aussie peers. Maybe those people I know are intellectual reasonable people.
