I am actually planning to buy this phone . However , as I read the thread .. I keep seeing Froyo froyo froyo !! I don't really know what it is

So can this current G5 version being updated when Froyo comes out in future ?

Or I should wait for the G5 that has Froyo ?

U can buy it now. If Froyo does launch u can send it back to the shop and they will update for u

Hey guys, my girlfriend is considering getting the Galaxy 5. Read mixed reviews about it, thus I thought I'd ask for the opinion of the Galaxy 5 users themselves. smile.gif

Is inputting text a problem with it's tiny screen? Does Swype help?

Does the screen size hinder your Web browsing? Too small for practical/continuous use?

Are there a lot of apps that are not compatible with the smaller resolution? Is there any compatible GPS navigation software?

It was pretty snappy when I tried it out, even live wallpapers ran like a dream. Although I was told it starts to crawl once you have all your apps, mails and contacts in the device. Any truth in that?

Thanks in advance! Hope to get the girl into the wonderful world of Android. biggrin.gif

for the first few times when use g5, u will feel it is quite not easy to type text, but after sometimes u will adjust urself and adapt to it.
i am sure a lot of g5 users from here will say so.
for me i found not a problem.

web browsing is good, but of cz u cant compare to larger screen smartphone but i found it is enough ady as we pay so cheap for tis phone.

basically most software apps are supported unless stated need higher resolution or froyo.
but for games, not all games supported.

basically live wallpaper is cool, but it consumes a lot of battery and it takes many of ur phone ram to run it.
jz like ur computer, u have not enough of ram how u gonna run so many task at the same time?
so u get wat u pay for, for a g5, u cant expect much but at least it satisfy all the basic demands for every smartphone users.

You can get a 3rd party keyboard like SlideIT to make typing easier.

The amount of apps are fine with me, unless you're really into gaming

It doesnt crawl when you install the apps, it crawls when you open all of it at the same time

the swype is too small for me, haha. Coz i'm a guy and my finger quite fleshy and big. But there is no problem to my girlfriend. Both of us using G5.

Hmm..i no idea with the screen for web brow. sometime i will zoom it when the word is too small.

no idea with the apps, haha. so far my apps all is ok. GPS u can use papago x5.

Recently Came the G5 rival, which is the LG optimus one pricing at 899 with 3.2inch screen. Most importantly it comes with froyo. Its another option for low end smart phone.

Just now i observed  to my phone when charging it.
I using USB port to charge my phone it maybe will take time.
12.45PM until 5.11PM, mean 25% until 100%.

after i remove the charger it going to 99%

I guess the counting is like that.
100% is the maximum and after unplug it it going to be 99.9%
but the .9% didn't show out.
*
hmm.gif I think you are right.............

I always re-plug to continue charge once it full..........it might maximize the charging

Hey ultramen,

I do think you should put the battery percentage indicator problem under the FAQ at page 1. It's common problem for G5.

The percentage shown by the phone is actually not the real percentage of the phone battery level. Is common to get 40-60% of battery charge just after one minute charging time. When actually the phone haven't been charge to that level, that's why some user experience sudden drop of battery after really short period time of using the phone.

While charging from 0% to 60% require less than a hour (maybe like 15 minute or so), getting from 90%-100% will require for me at least a 2-3 hour of charging. So in short the phone is lying about its battery level, a just charge till you get 100%. and trust me to get to 100% require really long time of charging. hmm.gif
*
laugh.gif This is newbie question, they will keep asking even posted in the FAQ

if that is the case, i would imagine that it's better to wait until the froyo bugs on galaxy 3 are fixed before galaxy 5 users attempt to install froyo?
