Mine's Korean made, and so far for two years I haven't had any issues. However the newer (and therefore cheaper) ones are Vietnamese, and I've heard some issues with those. Still a great deal of amp for not a lot of money, though. The latest VT series should be even better. But VOX engineers, BRING BACK MY PLEXI!

rclxms.gif thx for the input,
OHhh,the new one,VT series
Have u tried the VT series before?Did u meant that VT series are much better than the AD series is it? hmm.gif
Actually I 'm planning to get an amp which more preferably on around 30 watts,mind to give any recommendation?I 'm still a newbie in guitar & amp thingy tongue.gif

You should try out the AD30 and the VT30 side by side then, using the same amp models (Tweed 4x10 and AC15/AC30TB being good reference points).

If you're more of a high gain player though, I think the VT30 should be a better choice.

Just my 2 cents.

p/s I've never had the pleasure to test the VT yet. I might succumb to GAS!

I still thought the Ibanez GSR200 was more powerful sounding (with it's active electronics).

And the Yamaha RBX170 is also around the price of your Squire so check that out too...

A quick google search can do wonders you know:

http://www.voxamps.com/us/amplug/

RM135 each during the CK Music sales.

Buy any 3 for RM387, or all 5 for RM625

Thanks blacktrix. Ah this ones we would have to buy one for each purpose... not practical.. so guess I'm back to the amps... I was browsing through a yamaha outlet the day before and they recommended me a Laney amp... are they good? Against the pathfinder? Sorry I'm bugging you guys with these questions..

If you just want something to practice with using headphones, those are the best option. Classic Rock or the new Lead pretty much covers alot of ground and can be used in a wide variety of tone styles. Don't forget..... bigger, tube amps has only 1 or 2 channels. Of course there are exceptions (Mesa's Road King, H&K Switchblade, Marshall's JVM), but 1 or 2 channels is all you really need.

@o.d,
both the microcube and the pathfinder have headphone jacks...... but between the microcube and the pathfinder, the microcube has more modelling amps. But if you want a more classic crunch type sound (which I feel the microcube can't deliver), Vox has a tiny DA5 for around RM450. I PERSONALLY prefer the Vox DA5, because it has a nicer crunch to it. If not for the slightly more expensive VT15, I would already have bought the DA5.

@Xannava,
The Lead, Classic Rock and Metal amplugs are overdriven/distorted units. The Ac30 model, if cranked all the way up, can produce a slight crunch. The best bet is the Classic Rock, which sounds really amazing AND versatile. Set the gain low, and you have a slight crunch to it, almost sounding quite clean. Set it all the way up, and you get that great Classic Rock tone. I haven't tried the new Lead model, but I hear good things about it already.

Ok, hmm maybe I'll try it out when i visit the store... do they only sell them at ck music? Or does any other guitar shop sell em? And thanks a lot for your help blacktrix, really appreciate it. notworthy.gif

I've just seen the vox amps, and their overall look is really really nice compared to the other amps *falls head over heels*

CK Music is the official distributor of Vox in Malaysia. Even if there were other places, I don't think they can give you a better price compared to CK music.

Hi guys, I'm getting an E hopefully by this month end. I was doing a little research. Ibanez has the jumpstart package. GRX70DX. Any opinions about it?

The guitar looks the same as GRX70, though I can't seem to find much info of it (GRX70DX) on the net, like reviews and specs. Any opinions or advises would be greatly appreciate. smile.gif

I had these options in mind just thought I'd share to hopefully get some feedback;

1. Get the GRX70DX jumpstart package.
2. Get the GRX20 and get an amp.
3. Get the GRX70 and get an amp. IF GRX70 is better than GRX70DX, price to performance.
4. (For you to fill in the blanks. biggrin.gif)

EDIT: Oh yeah, I could prolly fork out like ~RM 1.0 - 1.5k I think.

For that price..... Yamaha Pacifica 012 (About RM450), Vox AD15vt (RM500), and then the rest for cables and a tuner....... you should be set for a good amount of time.

the DX has sharkfin like inlays.
the regular just has dots.

but then, why bother?

go for a squire or yamaha or SX starter packs.

or for R1.5k, u could get a squier standard series or the ever popular yamaha pacifica 112 and a pretty good practice amp like a vox or roland.
