I'm a beginner who never pick up a guitar before. Now wanting to learn how to play guitar. Any recommendation on the sort of guitar for beginner like me? Preferably, not too expensive (RM150) icon_rolleyes.gif

for that price you can try to look for a 2nd hand guitar.
else guess only a Kapok fits in your budget wink.gif

Yeah they do.

By the way... I'm getting a second hand ESP AX-50 tomorrow and was wondering what amps would be suitable for it. Cheap. Not cheap sound.

How does a vox pathfinder 10w hold up against the roland microcube?

The pathfinder is a two channel very basic no frills amp whereas the cube is a modeling amp. In terms of versatility Microcube wins hands down.

All these practice amps are good for home jam and starting out but you will be needing to upgrade to something a little more powerful when you get better or jam with a drummer.

What's your budget my friend?

Microcube is a good start, but like Satchman says, once you play with a drummer, you'll need something more powerful.

I just bought a Vox 15w VT modeling amp for RM550. There are cheaper ones for about RM500 for the AD series and they sound just as great. Anything less then 15w with a Drummer, and you might find your self being drowned out.

i dunno if its just my microcube, but my microcube is really loud compared to my old 16w kustom(which sucked). my microcube's volume is set at 9-10 oclock most of the time and its already really loud

Hmm, I'm not really needing anything too loud at the moment. In fact, I'll most likely be having my headphones connected to the amp... parents hate electric guitar sound, especially when its distorted. Whats the difference between two channels and what not?

Anyone tried the new VOXes VT series? They have the Mesa Boogie Mark I emulation, I think... Very tempting, but no plexi and twin reverb though.

EDIT: Blacktrix, just saw your post above me, how's the new VTs sound? Korean or Vietnamese made? Thanks...

Yeah, the VT is great for value. All the amps sounded unique and individual. I thought they just crammed like, 11 amps and something that sounds VAGUELY similar. Not the case here. Every amp has it's uses.
It sucks it doesn't have the Plexi, but the 25th Anniv Jubilee model makes up for it. I finally have that nice crunch going on, and can basically nail Sweet Child of Mine PERFECTLY. What I like is that it has a Gain, volume AND master Volume...... so you can REALLY crank it up.

Easy to use with great effects to boot as well. The built in Reverb is VERY nice and the delay + Chorus sounds sublime.

HIGHLY recommended for a jamming or practicing amp. Will take it to a jam session and see how it stands out. It even has a power attenuator built in, so you can dial down the wattage if it's too loud for practicing.

in that case why don't you get headphone amps? like the amplug. its great for quiet practicing and good to bring along if you travel a lot

Mine's Korean made, and so far for two years I haven't had any issues. However the newer (and therefore cheaper) ones are Vietnamese, and I've heard some issues with those. Still a great deal of amp for not a lot of money, though. The latest VT series should be even better. But VOX engineers, BRING BACK MY PLEXI!
