repairing a hdd or fata recovery service need a lot of money...

If u have the money to spare and got many importance n private data in hdd, it is recomended.

But if not, better throw it or sell it as faulty hdd n buy a new one. now hdd very good price...

Added on April 26, 2008, 12:24 pmanother tips,

if hdd 1st time formatted in vertical position, keep using it in that position.

changing the position of the hdd will shorten hdd life...

I'm really confused now. I thought rounded cables are supposed to improve performance because they reduce interference pickup and improve airflow?

Very likely if you do a thorough disk check, you will find out there are bad sectors.

Sounds like the HDD spoiled already. The noise is possibly the drive trying (and retrying) to read the maintenance track. wink.gif

Hi guys..
Wanna get some of ur idea on this:

Recently i had a dead 80GB Maxtor HDD cuz of a short circuit at the harddisk electrical circuit.
Its an obvious short circuit because one of the electrical components had burnt.

So i wanna ask if there is anything as replacing the HDD electrical circuit.
and i wonder that would work..
or is there any other way to revive my HDD without a file lost in it.
any shop offers such repair?

my main intention is not to save money but to retrieve all my data and files inside.
please guide my on this.

my HDD info:
Manufacturer: Maxtor
Model: 6L080P0
80GB PATA133 HDD

But a hdd cooler (fan screwed to hd) kill the hd much faster.

Tips:
1. Just make sure your casing got good air flow. Better yet, use a quality aluminium case. Aluminium case will act as a heatsink for the hd.
2. Do not place 2 hd together. Leave a gap between them.
3. those removable rack is no good coz it didn't mount properly and can cause oscillation/vibration.
4. Mount your hd properly and make sure you tighten it properly.
5. Avoid moving your pc around frequently.
6. Turn off windows hdd power management (eg: hdd turn off after 20 minutes). Set it to never. (Have an experienced with this. My wdc hd died on me because of this power management) HD head will be damaged due to start and stop of the head.
