u mean heat(smokey) smell?
thats definitely not normal  ohmy.gif
the usb ports at the side can be used as normal usb ports, to connect your thumbdrives and stuff. theres 4 usb ports, 2 at the side and 2 at the bottom.
use the cable given to connect the usb input to a usb port on your pc so all the ports on the monitor can be used.

guys, if I use a hdmi or a display port rather than the DVI, what advantage would it give?
the u2311h doesn't come with built in speakers or audio input, so in what way is the HDMI or DP gona help to carry audio?  hmm.gif
*
No advantage over DVI since like you said there's no speakers on the u2311h

Does the dead pixel look like one very very tiny blackish dot that appears in whatever colour the screen is showing except black?

Anyone know where/ the number for the service center for AOC in Malaysia? I called the company stated in AOC website but keeps getting a continuous long beep instead...

sending my old AOC 2434Pw to repair, got a thin blue line on it.

edit: NVM, send it already. Nice service btw, really easy.

That's the risk with buying things online. In the store you can slowly check...

Circle No.1: Dis "black thing" i notice when i first got dis replacement unit. But i didnt realy bother then bcoz its jst the size of 1 pixel
and also its at the side so its not so obvious...

Circle No.2: Now dis 1 was discoverd 2 days ago, and it goes more than 5 pixels.
The thing is i dono wat dis is, coz i ve seen bfore dead pixel and dis is definitely not dead pixel..so can sifu pls tell me WTF is dis??
I m really pissed coz i relly love dis monitor but the QC is terrible..and furthermore dis is alredi my 2 unit..I know 1 on 1 exchange is stil possible but arghhhh mad.gif

@apecorp
Shit happens,if i were you i'll call them again,at least you have this option.
IF this were to happen when you bought from other manufacturers you don't even have the option to do so .

Added on April 20, 2011, 3:18 pmbtw, those aren't dead pixels but stains?at least it looks that way to me.
definitely bad qc.
