Best and reliable radio would be Futaba's radio but quite pricey, especially the receiver .......

There are alternative options like Turnigy, KDS and so on but I have no idea how good/bad it is .... I am using Walkera 2801 Pro, a 8-ch cheaper radio made in China. So far it is good enough for me as a beginner.

1.) Walkera 4G6, this is where I got the radio from a RTF package.
2.) Trex 450 Pro.

There are a lot of settings in the radio so you have to read a lot or get a Sifu to help you on this. It is really hard to tell you all in this forum now but you may post here to ask just in case you have any setup issue in the future.

Hehehe, I don't think I can help you on those setup issue as I am still a beginner. Bro Qiw is here all the time to help ........

got it at RM1350 from a LHS in KL. Heli only with all the parts to build and you have to assemble yourself.

For beginner I suggest you take the fixed pitch heli to start lah.
Coaxial is fun and easy but it will not help you better in collective pitch later.

Fixed pitch may be stable enough and will not help either but it is closer to collective pitch controlling compare to a coaxial.

Theoretically yes, that's my speculation.

If your 6 ch radio is programmable I think the CCPM mixing can be zeroed by doing some setting in the radio, then just use those 4 ch for your 4 ch heli .... By saying that I think the linkages on the 4 ch heli has to be adjustable as well.

Correct me if I am wrong .....

So far there is no such thing for all my orders, there is no tax imposed to me by HK.

My order limit is USD70 per order therefore the custom did not impose the tax to me as well.

AFAIK, the rule is - it must not above RM500 in total including items and shipping.

It is true lah if the tax is 10% but going there to claim your parcel is super troublesome. You have to spend some time and going here and there one. So try to avoid as much as possible tongue.gif Else pay someone to claim the parcel for you loh ......

But I think if just a few items inside even though it is slightly above the limit they still don't kacau one, so should be OK if you want to take risk smile.gif

Qiw, ask you something.
If the prop of the plane is long would it be a problem for a belly landing?

My Cessna's nose wheel always break one so thinking of removing all the wheel and use hand launch and belly landing. But the prop is quite long that it will hit the ground if just laying on the floor.

QUOTE(QiW @ Jun 17 2011, 05:54 PM)
feels almost the same as the 520 .. maybe 9257 a little bit faster
size is the same ... except it will burn up very quick if u run it more than 5v .. 4.8v is the preferred voltage for the 9257

most if not all radios support 2 ailerons + normal/V tails nowadays in airplane mode ... flaps normally for those with 7 channels or more
in glider mode .. too many functions to even start with .. and multiple flight mode as well
heli modes ... nothing to shout about .. 6 channel ccpm or 4 channel straight servo ...thats about it ... governer will require an extra channel

the difference between radios are the extra features .. additional throttle and pitch curve points maybe .. more mixing options .. etc etc
then the end story is almost always the FEEL with the radio ... this one is very important as comfort is different with everyone's hands

But ur BEC really just 5V nice for your S9257? Or you have a 5.1V step down?

I prefer super combo package because it has been tested and assured that it can be assembled together. Else you have to do some survey to find out for example, motor can mount into the frame or not, servo too big, etc.

Of course the super combo package is cheaper lah. But you can look for cheaper parts to replace a super combo one, then it goes back to the things i mentioned previously.

Main blade, main shaft, feathering shaft, main gear, tail boom, tail blade, flybar rod ....... keep 1 or 2 set of this enough already.
From my experience just keep minimal parts and order online again after crashing your heli. Because you wont know which part you will need and it is not wise to keep ALL, unless you have 2 heli to fly and also use it as spare loh .......

I think if you are not flying so frequently usually the parts don't need to replace for an electric heli. Just replaced those parts that you have broken in a crash then you are good to go. To maintain the electric heli I think I will focus more on the bearings. From time to time, I will lube the bearing with very very small amount of lubricants. Including the motor bearing, I found that Scorpion's motor bearing oil is very good and cheap. Try to get one and it is available at HK and LHS.
I also use it to lube my other bearings.
