QUOTE(Skylinestar @ Sep 13 2015, 09:48 PM) people suggested to used the XMP for an easy RAM overclock, but I cant find my XMP menu on my mobo...I'm using MSI Z97 Gaming 5... saw from net there should be the menu somewhere in the bios on the advances setting... funny, it wasn't there... is it because of the RAM itself? The vids I saw was using the same mobo but using a different RAm which is Corsair Vengeance 1866MHz |

Hello,
I owned a MSI Z97 Gaming 5 mobo which had been bought way back in May 2015... and had use it happily with a single-channel mode of Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB 1866MHz... in last few days, had some budget to topup the memory module for another identical piece... when I put the new memory module for a dual-channel mode, a "loop-restart" happened... and this happened again and again... I had test both memory modules (one modules per one slot test), everything work fine... system powered, boot in windows... but only limited to RAM slot 1 & slot 2 only. While both slot 3 & slot 4 are not functioning... thus, I'm not able to use dual-channel mode either with slot 2 + slot 4 OR slot 1 + slot 3... atm, I'm using both memory modules on slot 1 + slot 2 for 16GB single-channel mode RIG INFORMATION Mobo: MSI Z97 Gaming 5 CPU: Pentium G3258 GPU: N/A RAM: 2x HyperX Fury 8GB 1866MHz OS: Windows 10 Were my ram slot 3 & slot 4 dead? If YES, what is the proper way to do a RMA for MSI product? This post has been edited by sue_cinta: Oct 26 2015, 10:49 AM |

And is it possible that you can provide us the BIOS debug code which showed on the motherboard when the loop restart happened? Thank You. |

QUOTE(MSI-MY @ Oct 29 2015, 12:09 PM) Hi Sue Cinta, yeah, sure... I'm intended to do so... but, where is exactly the location I need to send the mobo for inspection?Sorry for the late reply. I think its better you send the motherboard to us for further troubleshoot. Is it ok? Thank You. the shop where I bought the mobo says it was in the Plaza Pantai nearby the LRT Kerinchi... am I correct to assume it's there? Usually how long would it take for the inspection? and what should I bring along during my time there? Thanks in advance |

QUOTE(dannrawr @ Dec 13 2015, 04:29 AM) if u looking between 980ti with the hybrid one with the fury x, that should be decent comparison...980ti have more vram compare to fury x... 6G compare to 4G... imo, if u're looking to get a good 4k exp, a higher vram should be the solution.. but, also depend on what u gonna use the gpu for... fury x does have higher Memory Interface bus... more 10x faster than the 980ti... this should be important for media contain creator... not sure for gaming though... |
