QUOTE(galantorian7116 @ Dec 23 2010, 09:58 AM) Viewing Astro channels on rainny days becomes easier, the new Astro B.yond setup is more stable when watching Astro while it is raining. Except when it rains heavily for quite some time. For me, most of the time can view when it's raining except there's 1 day when it was so heavy until totally no signal at all. |

QUOTE(lapaq @ Dec 23 2010, 09:11 AM) Confirmed, anything wrong with the box, a tecnician will come and repair it for free. no more RM50 service charge. Not only with the box, LNB also included. I had a faulty LNB couple of week ago, technician came to replace it. They still stated RM50 in their service job form, but I don't need to pay them. I guess this time Astro have to pay them RM50. |

QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Dec 23 2010, 10:25 AM) What about the normal SD Astro receiver. What happens if they broke, we pay for the RM50 service charge PLUS the repair fee? It depends of the type of Box you have. Currently there are promotions where Astro Subsidise the Box's parts for certain types of SD boxes. This means you only pay RM50.IINM, there 1-2 types of box not covered under the Astro subsidy programs. so you'll have to pay RM50 + RM XX for the parts. As per the above post, Astro covers the LNB/Dish as well for B.yond but for SD Boxes, you have to pay RM50 + LNB if it goes kaput. Thanks! |

QUOTE(anfieldude @ Dec 23 2010, 09:15 AM) In my own opinion, the Beyond box seems to put out better SD than the older Philips box that I had. cannot attribute it solely to HDMI so I'm unsure. I have not however. tried the component out to my display or my Reon equipped AVR to see if it is better on component, since its easier for me to use HDMI. Also, with the bitrates at 8mbs for the hd channels, I hardly consider that as anything deemed as critical viewing material. But u're right, SD processing is still mostly done in the display rather than the box. Remember that the box is intended as a sat box and not necessarily as a upscaler. As long as the box is doing the colour space conversion correctly its more than a bonus. This is one area that the current Pace box is good. It outputs in YCbCr 4:4:4 8bit compared to some boxes (even in the states) that output in RGB pc levels....So in my opinion, its a good box. Thanks for the detailed info, Don't confuse marketing with technical data. That's just how marketing goes. |

6% service tax kicks in year 2011. If you change your billing cycle to 1 year and your billing date is from now and before 1 jan 2011, you can save a lot and depends on your billing amount.

Hate to burst your bubble, you should've done this back in October when it was first announce. Astro takes time to change your billing frequency to yearly instead of Monthly so all of us are out luck. But to those who are already on yearly bill and has been billed prior to 1st Jan...considered yourself Tax Free for a year. |

QUOTE(Qash-M @ Dec 23 2010, 12:33 PM) No la... 6% on your actual billing amount... Say, if your quarterly billing amount is $300 then 6% add on will be $18. Total amt billed is $318. No amount will be billed until your next billing frequency, ie., after 3 mths time, unless you change your package in this 3 mths period. |

RM100 * 12 = RM1200... RM1200 + 6% = RM1272... (RM1272/12 = RM106/month)... hmm... seems like it doesnt matter if i go for monthly and yearly right? coz the amount is same... unless i change to yearly now before 1st jan 2011... then i will get the saving advantage... am i right??? |
