Guys, first of all please excuse my question if it's a ridiculous one. Totally clueless about this. Currently I connect my TV to a pretty old home theater system via the AV jacks (the red + white jacks) and only 2 speakers plus the subwoofer have sound but the centre and the surround speakers remained silent. So this is due to the AV jacks limitation right? So if I were to change to B.yond, what should the setup be to my home theater system in order for the sound to be coming out from all the speakers? Once again, excuse me for this newbie question.

Submitted an upgrade for Astro B.yond last Sunday on their website. Nobody contacted me until now, so I tried contacting them via Twitter. Here's their reply: QUOTE Hi Yong,We understand your urgency, but sorry to say,our system currently not stable to upgrade.Don`t worry we will follow up.^N So, their so called upgrade to their customer service system seems to be like a downgrade instead.

So anyone got their B.yond upgrade from SD in the previous 1-2 weeks? I wonder if they really would do a follow up (since they said their system not stable to perform upgrades).

My B.yond will be installed tomorrow after waiting for about 2-3 weeks from the date of online upgrade application. Thing is now after reading some of the comments here, installed but not activated yet. So if it's not activated, then you can't watch anything on Astro yet right?

Well, my B.yond was installed at about 5pm. Installer made a phone call to get mine activated and about 5-10 minutes later, it was activated. Added on December 17, 2010, 6:55 pmBy the way, what's the best way to connect to a home theater system? Through a coax cable? This post has been edited by yongkailoon: Dec 17 2010, 06:55 PM

So where do you guys purchase your coaxial cables? Any affordable ones? So far the cheapest I came across was a coax cable from Monster at about RM170+. Any cheaper ones? Not really a serious sound lover but just want to connect the decoder to my home theater.

QUOTE(AjkR06 @ Dec 18 2010, 12:55 PM) Aiyoo.. no need to buy Monster la... unless u own a very HIGH END HT system.... Like me, I'm only using chepo brand that I bought from Giant.... RM25 only..... and it sounds really good on my HTiB.... And you know what, normal RCA cable also enough.... Giant got sell coaxial cable at RM25? Ok will head there later.

QUOTE(bigbangformula @ Dec 18 2010, 11:50 PM) Hey guys I'm wondering if I can cancel my current normal Movies and Sports package and get B.Yond instead since B.Yond already got HBO,Star Movies,ESPN,and Supersport HD which is what I mostly watch anyway,I don't watch Max Movies or the other Sports channel like Golf The HD channels will only available if you are subscribing to the specific package. Example: If you want to have HBO HD and Star Movies HD, you need to be a current subscriber of the movies package or else HBO HD and Star Movies HD won't be available.

Anyone experiencing some sound issues? Randomly, the sound will cut off for like 1 sec and this issue comes out randomly. Video is fine though.

QUOTE(aavth65 @ Dec 21 2010, 10:29 AM) got my astro upgraded to b.yond on 18/12 and activated on 20/12 after many long and nasty calls to cs. just 1 quick question for those who can help. everytime i power up the decoder, it always go back to channel 101. is it supposed to be like that or is there something wrong with my decoder? thanks. That happens if you turn off the power supply for it (at the power point). If it goes to standby mode only, it should return back to the last watched channel.

Firmware/software updates are done automatically or do we have to force it?

QUOTE(eMKs @ Dec 21 2010, 05:07 PM) Just leave decoder in standby mode, it will auto update within 5 minutes. You can also force it. How to force it? Saw the installer pressing something really fast on the decoder.

QUOTE(super_evil_alien @ Dec 22 2010, 02:37 PM) Guys, question here... My home already have astro. So now my father is planning to change the decoder to beyond version but don't want to activate HD. How much will he'll be charged for the decoder replacement & is it possible for changing decoder without subscribing to HD(plan to stick with SD)? Already clearly stated in the FAQ section of Astro B.yond's site: Q: Can I get the Astro B.yond box without subscribing to the High-Definition channels? A: It will not be possible as the Astro B.yond Box is bundled with the High-Definition service.

QUOTE(galantorian7116 @ Dec 23 2010, 09:58 AM) Viewing Astro channels on rainny days becomes easier, the new Astro B.yond setup is more stable when watching Astro while it is raining. Except when it rains heavily for quite some time. For me, most of the time can view when it's raining except there's 1 day when it was so heavy until totally no signal at all.

I notice stuttering quite often too, I think mostly on the HD channels.

QUOTE(Gucc1 @ Jan 24 2011, 12:22 PM) Does hbo hb or star movie HD give trueHD audio? Dolby Digital 5.1. However, I don't know if it's just me but for Star Movies HD, it is always just 2.1 (but my home theater shows it is receiving Dolby Digital signal). HBO gives 5.1 sound though.
