I notice that certain channels like HBO HD and AXN HD have very loud LFE levels - to the extent that any soft and continuous LFE sources in those channels would be amplified by my subwoofer into an irritating humming sound in certain scenes. I do not encounter this problem with DVDs or BDs. The only way to solve this when watching Astro HD is to lower the LFE volume by 10dB.

Anyone here experience the same thing?

Samsung already introduce their UHDTV this year. But still not for market. So it not a 2020 technology anymore.

I think it not HBO HD and AXN HD only, Nat GEO HD, History HD, ASSP HD also have quiet loud LFE. But I think it normal and not a problem to me. smile.gif

Not many customer subscribe news package, so I think astro will not put this on their priority.
Better lunch other HD channel instead of news in HD.

Agree.

There are many free news channel already.

Discovery HD and star world HD and TVB HD would be popular.

well..maybe what u said is true..but it could also work as the direct opposite..
astro might wanna add new HD channels to packages that do not have any HD channels..
News, Variety, Fun , Metro are just some of the packages that do not have any HD channel
astro could consider getting a channel for those channels maybe in SD and HD..to attract new customers..
for example, i will be temped if they add a HD channel for Variety..
to use the term 'better astro add more popular channels like discovery HD, Star World Hd' is useless..do they know what is popular or not?
have they even did a survey or asked what their customers like?
Channel V is the prime example..it was popular among music lovers and until now people are begging astro to bring it back..even 5 months after it was removed..
it is popular but do astro care? do they care Discovery HD or Star World HD would be popular choice?
if popular, they would already be adding it in..they dont give a damn whats popular..
most important for them is to make more money..like today they offered me special price for movie package saying they now have 2 HD channels in that package..they're not adding channels coz its popular..they add channels so that they can get more subscribers to the package or to astro itself..

Thats why I said that news is not their top priority in HD. Maybe learning package have more subscriber than news package and that a reason astro already put 2 HD channels in that package. But if astro want to put news HD on family package than it better than nothing. smile.gif

That's fairly normal as some scenes do require low-frequency humming to simulate the state of "being there". Star Trek TNG and subsequent TV series (and films) always have a constant hum whenever they are on the Enterprise.

Maybe the DVDs/BDs you got is not mastered properly.

He said Thai TV dramas, not films.

BTW, Sony said that by 2012 half of their new HDTVs will be 3D sets. I bet others are betting the same. The fact that we still have Speedy selling legitimate VCDs is showing how far we've not come to being up-to-date.
