hi, i WTAsk..
i just install astro decoder at my home...i subscribe the normal astro, not the byond but they give me byond decoder as they said normal decoder out of stock...
so my question is, is the byond decoder is easy to get broken due ti high temp as they said it's not recommended to use the component cable...currently im using the composite cable...

Try changing yr LED TV pic display setup details AND watch from the "recommended" viewing distance. smile.gif

You do all you wanted but at the end of the day, Astro SD is better on CRT than LED/LCD/Plasma HDTV

gee,now i am getting some positive feedbacks.

installer gonna come tom to install the beyond.

fyi,me using toshiba 40 inch model CV700E.

any users out there?

cheers!

hi all,

finally, astro installer came in the morning at 11.00am on Saturday.
installation took about 45minutes,with new dish and cables.Activattion took about 10 minutes;that's very fast considering the fact some of our bros here took a longer time.Installer even gave a demo and did the settings for me.
my observation for pros and cons/wish list:

the pros:
1)HD picture quality and sound is simply amazing ,very clear and superb- HBO/STARMOVIES/AXN/SPORTS/HISTORY/NATGEO
2)menu guide on tv screen quite impressive.
3)SD programmes looks much better now but of course cannot beat HD and CRT lah.
4)fast response for the remote control to the box.
5)can actually watch all SD pictures in HD on the right top screen when using menu guide although its kinda small but still watchable.
6)beyond box small and stylish.

the cons/wish list:
1) should have HD in other programmes - cinemax,tlc,diva channel,zee channel,discovery,animal planet.
2)bulky remote.noticed there are buttons for those using pvr but if take out the buttons,am sure the remote will be less smaller for those not using pvr
3)no subtitle in hbo and star movies-i guess need to get use to it.

cheers!

Not done extensive checking but I felt the History HD seems clearer than the NATGEO. And further more, the History SD and History HD are showing different program so in effect, we now got 2 different History channel.

And yes, SD program being clearer on B.yond is a very nice pleasant surprise. Wasn't expecting that.

So, ch.338 in HD for B.yond & SD for else? hmm.gif

I'm afraid that Ch310 and Ch338 will be showing the same content.
If it's true, it'd be unfair for Dynasty Pack Byond's subscribers.

If the same thing applied on Sport package for 1 month, that should save us a lot. icon_idea.gif

u need to wait 14 working days.

1)what u can do now is just wait for the first 5 days.
2)f no calls from Astro, just call them to enquire.
they will give some shit stories,etc..
3)after 2 days and still no call, call the CS and fire them with bullets.
just say u need to go outtation,etc...
4)if still no call,again repeat no 3
5)if still no call,again repeat no 4.
6)if still no call,again repeat no 5.

ok just keep repeating until the installer call you.

as for me, registered on 10/1/2011,got the call on 18/1/2011 and got it installed on 22/1/2011.
In between that, call the CS twice, fired them left right up down and finally they called on 18/1.

believe me,dun give chance to astro.
customers comes first.

cheers!

My case? Submitted application to upgrade from Normal to B.Yond.

Waited for 3 weeks and called. Was told "no record of your application in our system" shocking.gif

That's when the firing started..........

The next day got a bill from Astro. They started charging me RM20 extra for B.yond shocking.gif shocking.gif

Called them up and they said I already have the B.yond installed rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

This time, bring out the big canon and started firing.......

Got it installed the next day.

Now you people try to beat my record whistling.gif

Dolby Digital 5.1. However, I don't know if it's just me but for Star Movies HD, it is always just 2.1 (but my home theater shows it is receiving Dolby Digital signal). HBO gives 5.1 sound though.
