Just splashed on the new GT683 then being stupid and ignorant, i decided to check what other Laptops carried the same specs and

Toshiba Qosmio X770-107 - same spec in terms of processor and graphic card ( Might even be much cheaper then MSI )

and also i heard ASUS came out with a new version as well with the same specs. I'm thinking I should've waited. Should I have waited? Anyway, I don't think i'll be sleeping for a week. Too excited...

Meaning u have ordered your GT683?

Somehow, i cant tell if you're trying to spoil our thread or you're excited you bought your new laptop. Since you only join last night, im nt gnna critic anything. But if you're like one of those fan-boys haters last time who come in and says that MSI Laptop sucks, i wont hesistate to press tat report button.

If you want to compare to the Asus, from what ken from gentech told me, "2GB version is 128Bit and 1.5BG version is 192 bit" Thus, 1.5GB Version has the advantage here.

IF you really bought it, then i can guarantee you, you will not have any regret spending that money on the laptop.

Agreed.. If you think that MSI is not good, then just hog to another brand.. I've been researching for almost 2 years now and I've decided on a GT780R with no regrets despite being a 17 incher.
MSI is reliable and a bang for buck, I got a GT680R for my little brother and he never had problems so far..

Viruz, I'm here to clarify that what you said is true, the 1.5GB n 3GB is 192 bit while the 2GB is 128 bit.

The G53SX using a 128 bit GPU was the main reason I had to switch over to the MSI's 17 incher since my brother owned the 15 incher version of MSI.

When I get it at my doorstep, Imma do a review by the weekend =)

MSI is offering better stuff on ports like 2 USB 3.0 on MSI than Asus Single USB 3.0 port. MSI has RAID if u mistype GT683R as GT683.

Guys, I'm in no way trying to spoil this thread at all. Also, apologize if it was rather harsh for me to put it like that. Definitely my concern is whether my hard earned bonus is well spent. I've been eyeing on MSI vs Asus for a while now and it's confusing as they both come out with good lappy's but i've opted for MSI because it looks like a disco machine and after reading this thread, am happy to find that it does have it's advantages. Still.. can't sleep this few days.. too excited.. it was suppose to be a 1 week wait but it seems that i'll have to wait for 2 more weeks. T_T

Also guys, I read a lot about Sager and how flexible it is in terms of changing GPU, SLI, Graphic cards and such but why are people still reluctant in buying a Sager lappy? Though i noticed that the warranty is not a Sager warranty but other then that, it seems to offer a lot. Is there a secret we normal ppl don't know?

Honest opinion from this guy smile.gif , because he's not a laptop seller that's why he'll give real opinion for the laptop instead of praising it in order to push the selling rate

Sager laptops come from Clevo, a company that provides barebone laptops which are easily upgradeable. Other brands that use Clevo laptops are Malibal, Eurocom, Maingear and Origin =)

And with a barebone laptop, it is definitely affordable to upgrade it,

Take for example, the latest Sager 8150-S1 with a GTX485m(what happened to ATI 6970m!?), it cost close to RM6k, compared to the MSI GT780R, it's definitely worth it!!

Even the upgrade from the Intel 2630QM to the 2720QM only costs averagely USD160 as compared to ASUS & MSI that offered close to USD400 for the upgrade.

However, most of us are afraid of it's warranty since it doesn't have global warranty unlike MSI & ASUS which offered global warranty for 1 or 2 years.

Buying Sager brings a risk only in terms of warranty, but it's sure the best bang for buck, no doubts wink.gif

You make your choice. Sometimes u just gotta risk it to get the biscuit, haha.. XD

If you're looking for a plain exterior but a beastly interior, Sager is your best choice.

Still, MSI wins with their great sound quality from Dynaudio =)

The MSI GT780R has a steelseries gaming keyboard embedded and a matte display(it's rare nowadays!) in stock and the colourful software customized backlit keyboard, it's so darn attractive!

The Sager warranty is offered by Sager.

And a dealer warranty refers to domestic/regional warranty which is coordinated with US Sager headquarter to avoid global shipment for claiming warranty. But still, if serious problem occurs, still have to send over US. Eg: CPU, GPU and motherboard.

I see.. I think there's a safe bet that at least it is warantied by US Sager but the thought of sending it back to US. it will take a considerable amount of time before you get the repairs done and get it back. What is the average time it takes for lets say a graphic card issue to get it replaced and returned? I know this is something my dad would buy.. he's hardcore when it comes to beast machines and gaming.
