biggrin.gif Didn't know you are from EM

Well, Lazada is cheaper, but I'm not asking you to buy from Lazada. Some in WM also don't prefer online purchase/delivery

Lazada is just a guide to comapre prices icon_rolleyes.gif

Yea, got 1 unit as I'm a MBB CC holder. My number was <100 and Samsung allowed customers to make payment earlier at 9.30am, instead of 10am.  thumbup.gif

The best bang for the buck TV out there. Got the 50 inch for RM 2,444. It was a really great deal with great visuals. Using it mainly for gaming and movies.

It's only Sony and Samsung for me. I bought a Samsung TV in 2011. Until now, It's is up and running without any encountered issues. that's how reliable Samsung is.

Are there any sound bar you will recommend or home theatre system around RM1k to RM1.5k? Does the price of a sound system falls off as much as the TV does after a few years?
*
Don't go for soundbar...unless space is an issue.

Better just get Home Theater

Why do you say so? Quality to price ratio not justifiable compared to home theater?

Which Home Theater system would you suggest around that budget? Or which brand to look out for?
*
From experience. Still, it's up to individual liking. Some like the clean look of soundbars.

But if you fancy a real entertainment system, an AvR 5.1 channel is awesome.

As for the price range, even an entry model will beat a soundbar any day. These are around the price of a soundbar, unless you are talking an entry level soundbar which is < 1k.

I can't really give a price for home theater. Personally I owned a Philips HTib but they are not even close to a proper AVR 5.1 ch.

I can only recommend to look around for a good bargain. Desa Home Theatre is one place. They have good discounts from time to time. I reckon an entry Pioneer/Denon/Yamaha/Onkyo/Marantz would be awesome. An entry level 5.1 ch AVR plus 5 satellites and 1 sub should be around sub 2k.

For myself, I upgraded from satellites to Floorstand (got it preloved from mudah.my).

My 2 cents.

Good to know! I have to buy an AvR 5.1 channel, and a few satellites (stand alone speakers that connect to the AvR?)

Honestly, I'm not that particular with the surround sound, I'm mainly looking for speakers that provide good sound quality and clarity.

Wow, Floorstands do fetch a hefty pricetag huh? I guess quality costs.
Thanks, I've never really experienced real HTS before so I don't know if I will be able to tell the difference. Probably would but I'll do some reading and search on lazada/11street/amazon for good value HTS's.

This is from my own experience

"Sharing my experience...

I bought 1.6k Harman Kardon AVR + 5.1 satellite speakers...display unit few years back (what a bargain!)

Later, I found the satellite's not to my liking, but decent speakers are quite expensive (in my opinion..), so I browsed through mudah.my for used speakers and found a Jamo 3 speakers (center+2 front floorstanding only sad.gif) for 900. I purchased it.

Later I put my satellites in mudah and sold them for 1.3k...and later i bought new Jamo surround bookshelf for 600.

Very happy with what i have for now, though no sub.

I would advise to go for a decent AVR and slowly upgrade the speakers"

Oh, I finally added an active subwoofer later on Jamo Sub260 for 700 from mudah.my.

Now I feel it's complete! icon_idea.gif

(As you can see, I'm kinda a cheapskate blush.gif )

I suggest you head on over to the AVR Receiver/Satellite Speaker thread to look for good bargain

I checked. AVR that supports HDR is quite expensive RM1400 not including the speakers. Any other sound system to recommend? thank you
*
That price is considered cheap 😅

I would suggest to buy step by step in order to complete the AVR system.

That's better than you get a soundbar that's cheap but it's just only slightly better than the TV speakers...

Is it me or have anyone of you found the Samsung UA55KU6000 UHD seemed to be juddering?

Saw this at showroom...like a slow motion blur effect (not all the time but especially when the camera moves) when trying to compare picture quality between Samsung LED TVs...

Is it due to the 50Hz (only...) motion rate?

you can turn off the soap opera effect. i don't like it as well.

I just searched for soap opera effect..

Is it for those 200Hz motion?

KU6000 only has 50Hz...and from the explanation I don't think what i saw was soap opera. It's more like those old days LCD screen juddering when cars move really fast but the scene I saw was a slow camera movement only confused.gif

If it's the soap opera effect, it can be turned off and judder can too, or at least be minimized... I'm not entirely sure if it's as a result of it being a 50hz TV as it could a defect or the default recording of the content being played.. Ideally, due to popular content being shot at 24fps, a 120hz TV is much preferred, cuz most 120hz panels can display 24hz video without issue, because 24 goes into 120 five times. But some 50/60hz panels have difficulty.. I use a 120hz TV and in addition, turning off them auto-motion assisting thingys ensures action scenes and camera pans are realistic.. At minimum, turn motion settings down to its lowest.. The soap opera effect is an eyesore to me as well.

Nowadays 4K/UHD becoming more affordable. Samsung entry level UHD all 50Hz only (KU6000 series), while LG entry level UHD 100Hz...

Anyway, it's not that I'm shopping for a new TV now. But I do check out TVs from time to time so that in case TV kaput I know which one to buy biggrin.gif

Due to afforability, next I'm going for UHD or curve brows.gif

Same here.. Just keeping tabs on things as it progresses..
Price & a financially sound decision? Yes.. Future Proof? not so much cuz its still early.. As any business, TV manufacturers need revenue to stay in business, how else to get customers to swap current 1080p TVs than to market the idea that the TVs of today are future proof.. Don't get me wrong, 4K is the future.. heck 8K could be around the corner... So in essence, one is "future-proofing". But for now and perhaps 3+ years ahead, 1080p remains king.

Take this analogy...The informed public is accepting that greener tech is the way forward.. think hybrid cars. Sure for now, its good, but as tech gets better over the years.. Hybrid or full EV mode will be extremely more efficient at its job.. And guess what... You'd buy another vehicle.. No? Same can be applied with current crop of TVs, its good, but in 5 years, it'll be significantly better. I choose to wait till its that good and worthy of an upgrade. By all means, do continue buying cuz someone has to foot the research bill.. tongue.gif
Yup.. Budget dependent of course...
*
Well said.

I don't simply buy too... unless the current one kaput
