hie hie ladies,
wanna ask about EBM. I noticed the EBM smells different compared to the "fresh" milk.. like foul smell..i tried to mix fresh + EBM but still the smell is weird.. to me .. normal kan?

also, normally thawed EBM in fridge need to be consumed within 24 hours right?

btw, do we have any food that has to be avoided during breastfeeding period? or anything also can makan? biggrin.gif

my cousin realised that her milk smelled fishy when she ate steam fish..so...she only took fried fish.

Sometimes, what we eat does somehow affect our BM..but it's all differnet for each of us..so you just see what affects your bm.

I totally stayed away from cabbage. first because it can reduce supply..and secondly..cabbage causes wind..thus baby may get tummy ache.

QUOTE
In his 25-year career, consultant paediatrician Datuk Dr Zulkifli Ismail has been telling parents that infant formula is a poor imitation of breast milk, at best.  “From the start, formula manufacturers have been trying to copy the exact formulation of human breast milk. Each time they add something new like DHA, ARA or probiotics, it’s because they found these properties in breast milk,” Dr Zulkifli explains. “If you already have something original (breast milk), why give your baby a copy of the original? It doesn’t make sense.”  To date, formula companies haven’t been able to simulate the unique cocktail of antibodies, digestive enzymes, human growth factors and hormones that make up breast milk.  “Even the manufacturers acknowledge the fact,” he adds. “The only problem is mothers don’t seem to buy it.”

this is the point... y dun the mother c? or rather other ppl c it? bad bad advertisement... they should also include the "warning: fm kenot replace bm. bm is the best for baby" in their ad like they put on the fm box...

to many uneducated parents or older generation, breastmilk is just a "white colour WATER"...

wherelse formula has many nutrients and benefits like DHA, AA etc etc from A to Z...

thats why u heard people say that breastmilk is not enough for baby...

i guess there's another mentality... bf is time consuming so wat would happen to house chores? the dishes will pile up, clothes soak in water, dusty surface, etc... if the mum lives alone without help i think fm is her solution eventho she knows bm is the best... which happens in my case... during the first few days i was bombarded wif u dun have milk statement coz bb cries every hr or so... so fm was given n c bb sleeps for hrs n soundly and u can do houseworks, eat, drink, toilet statement came... sigh... sometimes i feel like married woman wif kids is a slave to the family n hb... especially if the hb is traditional type... when he comes home n c the house in a mess he'll probably say wat have u been doing all day to the mum... those kind of statement i really hate such as i've been working hard outside, u take care of the kids, i dunno how to take care of the kids, etc... hello, staying at home doesn't mean i'm free unless i have a maid... or mayb i'm thinking too much... since we can't give him the best doctor, the best education, but we're giving him the best milk... i think can use that statement to counter anyone who's going to comment or support fm...
