more region locked games! why?

*
most probably cos it will disrupt the games's physical distribution of said region.
especially in countries like ours where its hard to find original game shops.

in US, they dont have this kind of problem, cos many shops carry legal games,
so can sell simultaneously without hogging the market.

Any difference compared to Steam's? Both also are region locked, though like I mentioned in the DA thread, I find it easier to fool the region-lock mechanism in GG. Steam locked my account the last time I attempted with a VPN. sad.gif

Because if you lose your physical copy, you could always download from the EA downloader.

"Shits happen" really.

Always good to have a backup available online where it can't get damaged/lost etc.
Does not cost you anything more either.

Also like you move to a new place and decide to leave ori cds back home because it takes too much space etc.

Agreed it's not a huge thing but still a convenience.

Agreed.

I used to buy retails but after years of gaming those dvd's had collected pounds of dust and i eventually got lazy of the fortnightly clean up. Glad that digital purchasing is heading mainstream now.

Consider this though, you can't be bothered to download gigabytes in size. You want "semi" instant access to the game. Same as losing DVDs... you lose your HDD. Cycle continues... download. again. Also.. Games nowadays you can register your retail online and get to download if ever you lose your DVD. So its a safety net of a sort.

So selective buying of retail is still an option. For me anyway smile.gif

Okay, i'll buy from Aus game shop.

Steam has started to lose it's appeal to me.
*
I'll take that back.

Aus Steam did offer DA Ultimate Edition, and all the GFWL games. If there is a need, i might be able to help some people to buy the steam games if i could sort out some stuff. Some GFWL games are still on US price, not inflated stupid australian price.

I think retail is awesome because it's feels better to have a physical copy of the games you have.

I actually feel good when im holding a retail copy of a game that i really enjoy playing like RA3 or DoW:DC.
