the thing is..first of all..you need to read the whole instructions to get an idea of what you are doing..even better if you understand it..

don't just simply type in what they wrote..but understand it and you will have no problem at all.. =)

it might look difficult..but understanding the basic commands is really helpful..

eg : if the command "cd \home\user".."cd" is the abbreviation of "change directory"..

"mkdir \home\user\XX"..mkdir is the abbreviation of "make directory"

and so on..its important u know the commands to get an idea what you are doing..

what the hell, it doesn't support mp3?????
*
yea, its like that...

even ubuntu does not support flash and mp3 out of the box...

they wanna remain 100% open source and not include anything that requires a license...

off topic question:-

1)what's the difference of extras, extras-devel and extras-testing?

2)sometimes I see XXX.armel.deb and xxx.i386.deb file together, what's the difference? both need to be download together?

thanks

extras, extras-testing and extras-devel are repositories.

simply said,

extras - apps that have been tested ok, no major issues

extras-testing - apps that are waiting to be moved to extras, might have some issues still but wont crash your system entirely

extras-devel - installing apps from here might cause your system to crash, unable to boot, meaning not many people tested it

but so far i have never faced issues installing apps from extras-testing or extras-devel

make sure to read first and research about the app before installing

just a quick look at tmo forum or googling about that app will help you identify possible issues

armel = ARM platform

i386 = PC platform

you dont need to download the i386 deb.

I had an experience with one app from extras-devel that caused a problem. An app called flashlight-extra i think. After removing the app, there was a constant cpu usage of ~8%, so it was draining my batt continuously. Traced it to some files left after uninstalling... had to remove it manually...

Well.. just an example of issues you can encounter. Not to put you off or anything ... hehe

2 files inside the transitions.zip

1transitions.ini - no slow transitions, other slightly animated indicators when you touch buttons and menus are still there.

2transitions.ini - totally no animation. no effects at all when you touch buttons and menus. (extreme settings)

rename to transitions.ini and replace the file /usr/share/hildon-desktop/transitions.ini

Added on October 28, 2010, 9:58 amyeah, remember to backup the original transitions.ini

just in case you dont like my unanimated plain looking stuff.

Some of the members at MeeGo forum said this time we'll be provided with proper image instead of kickstart image.
So we can skip few steps.

jananan already explain the basic.
In future MeeGo will be supporting both armel(ARM CPU) & i386(x86 based CPU eg:Moorestown).So users have to choose according to their hardware/software.

What i understand pc suite didn't backup your communication/conversation. Do you use your Backup Apps in your N900. That will backup all your conversations. Its works for me.
