Wow, I'm so late on this - and I read all 8 pages of lulz. But it's 2012 right? Hmmm... I wonder if they're planning some kind of promo event for that...

Somehow these comments never fails to amuse me
1 - Anything is always the govt fault, no matter what
2 - Any animation that is done locally should follow 100% Japanese

This is an animated series, albeit even with Gonzo's help, is first and foremost for the local market. And for the local market, they need a local flavour. And not all locals are into Japanese animation, no matter what you weeboes think. Will it work with a local storyline formula? It might. Keluang Man showed that before that local animation with local storyline works.

Besides, I always see broadswoard, gattling gun, and other non Japanese weapons in anime. So is Keris so wrong that it can't even be featured in an anime that showcases a local character?

For me this is the real reason that Malaysian animation fails. People tend to overlook what local wants, and instead expect it to be a copy pasta from another country.

with a good storyline this might work.

the director already have his work cut out for him by the govt and i doubt he understand / cares about written m'sian history.

imo, the writer(s) creativity can make or break this project.
