which is better to use? the acer backup or windows backup?

Hi... planning to buy 4820TG by next month.

Went to digital mall last 2 week to survey the price.. only the Ground floor - Notebook Zone and the shop beside it.. selling it at 2,699 per unit... i was like..

N i remember i read somewhere in the forum that someone purchase it below the RRP 2,599

Tell them that lol, I am sure you could bargain for it to at least RRP price..

The Acer Backup is actually from NIT, which is a strip down version. It sucks. I tested it before, it is simply copy your file to the backup; AS IT IS. no compression, no encryption. in my opinion, it is slow some more.

I removed the application after that.

The Backup by Windows 7 is quite versatile. It is a differential backup (meaning, next time you backup, it only backup files that has been changed), and files are zip. I am using this regularly.

Added on November 17, 2010, 10:12 pmIt's holiday today! Continue to look for AcBel in Lowyat, finally found it! Though I don't mind 65W as long as it's small, but if it is small, and 90W, why not? But i think i got rip off, shop sold to me at RM180, no discount even though I told him Melaka selling RM140... however, this AcBel came with a regular 3 pin socket. I am swapping the socket with HuntKey 2 pin, which is much smaller and lighter This is going to be my travel pack.

tat acer is 3rd generation already..and it is around 3 weeks old
first 2 generation seems like got a lots of prob
duno got ppl mention or not
he keep convince me to take hp
with lower spec and cheaper

is it full of problems? dilemma....

Try uninstall and install it back the ATi driver...

i m using TimelineX and very satisfy with the unit.

"full of problems" is exaggerating. no Brand should deserve that. i work with notebook long enough to know each brand has problem. in my opinion, 'problematic user' seem to have more 'problem' with their notebook.

example of problem which can be avoided:

- bad sector in hardisk - moving the notebook around while it is still running; although most HDD now can detect shock, but always close the lid (let it sleep), before moving your notebook around
- overheated - run a game, pause game, go to sleep/date/etc; although your notebook has heat management, but not every notebook can withstand 8 hours of heavy usage. Pausing game will not make your notebook idle!
- Wrong / absent of driver - if u r not sure which driver to use, ask around people that uses the same notebook;
- bloatware / malware - duno what they are installing, but still install! things such as Xunlei, PPS, uses your bandwidth as soon as ur notebook starts! i also seen people using 2 antivirus... personally, i don't recommend that

Conclusion: Take care of your notebook, it'll take care of you

yup and i notice high pitch sounds from AcBel if i put my ear close enough to it. anyway, that is just general observation, with AcBel, i was playing game last night, so draw power heavily. with this Acer adapter, i m just normal browsing, so, it's not hot. will check when both under heavy load next time i got chance.

but both are cooler than the HuntKey!

AcBel seems promising

at last got some of those games from my friend. it was simply nice! well if you dont mind goind mid i think its good but one thing. why did the fps drop when i change to the high performance settings? but with balance i have better fps. why ar? lol

No changes if I use Performance or Balance, tested with benchmarking Street Fighter 4. If you get better FPS in balance, use it!

go to harvey norman. i went to harvey norman in sunway pyramid they will give you 2599. no nonsense. no questions asked. you can even ask them for a brand new unit sealed in carton box.

didnt do benchmarking but i can feel the 'slowness' in first person shooter game. like one second delay. guess ill just stick to the balance mode and am lucky to not have any heating problem Played for few hours the temp only gone up to max 70 only. and im in my room with a ceiling fan only + the sun shine straight into my room. not bad not bad
