Those are established AV, nothing suspicious there. biggrin.gif

Since all AV are equally poor, why not chose the Free one instead? With or without antivirus, be careful of what you are downloading / installing whistling.gif

Since I dont trust any AV, I run untrusted application/installer only in a VMware. And my Windows Firewall has been configure to Block all out-going connection by default.

I have Autorun disable on ALL drives way back in XP using Local Security Policy Administrative Template. Good thing is Win7 no longer automatically run autorun.inf, so, even by default, this should no longer be a problem. Unless you still select to run the default Autorun!!! I will just browse it, as long as I am not running anything, even if there is virus, it wont affect my notebook.

Since we are in this topic, I'd like to share 1 more trick:

1. Always keep UAC as it's default recommended level
2. Never allow any program from running as Administrative unless you are very sure that proggie is OK
3. A game will not require Administrative to run, so, none of my game has any Admin privilege

In Win7, without explicit permission as Administrator, even a malware will not be allow to make any internet connection (must disable default Outgoing in Advance Firewall setting), cant migrate into another process, install rootkit / new service, etc... things will became so difficult for malware icon_idea.gif

Then, I have Threatfire, which can detect if a proggie is doing anything suspicious such as mass copy itself, changing Internet setting, etc...

warez = malware

dont ever trust anything you download from warez sites...

what better way to spread your backdoor than to pack it into a warez and share it via torrent?

That looks really complicated cow icon_question.gif
Mind to share the name of the method that you are using so that I can google it?
Then I can learn it step by step.

I read somewhere that Microsoft Essentials was the best there is.
But that was probably an advertisement from Microsoft. biggrin.gif

Does the game still have artifact ?

thx for the precious tips. Now I could play Dead Space at ease.

but whats the differences between switchable and discrete?

do discrete tend to have a more stable 3d rendering in games?

If it is from the original website, it should be safe. nod.gif

The defragment from win7 is good enough, it wont defrag anything larger than 60mb (if not mistaken), but that's fine. And since I am using Windows Performance Toolkit to speed up my boot up, I cant use any other defragment program.
