true, lee. i'd tested on BC2. drop ~8fps when oc, strange.

also, running HD tune test, my hdd maximum transfer rate will drop ~10MB/s when oc @160/166
strange..strange

however, running emulator-wii dolphin, speed increase 10fps

The same thing happen with Asus A42Jv as well when I overclock the CPU...
Games will be slower but other benchmark will show improvement..

btw, my gpu can oc to 780/1100..temp is @88c.. a little bit scare somehow

yup. duno if it helps on battery life but i m not using it anyway...

@JKEC my best GPU OC result is 774/1113 ... i didnt OC CPU due to slower game performance...

agreed. @cow i dun oc when gaming, only oc when running wii dolphin (it's really help alot)..now gpu setting 750/1100 for safer

@lee i tested it on coolemaster cooling pad. however, drop 2c on gpu, cpu 1c. guess help abit la..haha

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6570 2gb in the Asus A42JP compared to the one in Acer 4820TG (Ati 6550 1gb). Will it be a big difference ?

Basically HD6570 = OC HD6550...
So you can just overclock HD6550 to reach HD6570 level or more, unless you are unlucky..

okok thanks for the info, Im seriously considering 4820TG now...hopefully it doesnt disappoint me.

usb 3.0 still an expensive hardware.

i tried putting the graphic mode into switchable, tried the Dead Space 2 on how the graphics since I installed the driver software after switching to discrete, I cant use the switchable mode if i want to play those kinds of games.

I forgot the option that was disabled in the ati hd5k series that could improve the performance but can be enabled by using the atitool by ray adams

Sorry to hear about your problem. I dont have Dead Space 2 though. Otherwise I can probably test it out.

I am using Switchable graphic all the time. Dont have any problem so far. Completed many RPG game, but not any First Person Shooter, will get if i play too long.

Now, I am deciding if I should play Batman or Two Worlds 2...

currently, there are about 4 games ive detected that cant play well with switchable mode

dead space 2 - medium artifact level, playable but hard to see
gta4 - light artifact level
grid - heavy artifact after the intro video
supreme commander - heavy artifact level once the game started

i wonder why my laptop slow to boot up during the windows logo, maybe its due to the game booster top performance option? going to try out the windows performance toolkit

What about if you overclock the GPU while in switchable mode, more artifact ?

downloading Grid demo, will test it once completed in an hour later.

Heard some pretty good review about Game Booster, but are you sure you really need tool like that? Without AA, there is really no game that run slowly with 5650 @ 720p resolution... Game Booster really help?

I used to have some artifact when setting AI to Advance, but no longer has the problem after using Catalyst 11.1. If you are not using Catalyst 11.1, try no AA and/or filtering?

Hey guys, thinking of getting this laptop to use in my studies , for assignments and research , and of course, partly multimedia + gaming

I did my research on the 3820tg by googling and looking at reviews,

Found that its the best laptop to suit my needs, minus the optical drive , which i probably will only need when i reformat .

However, that aside , I was not too sure of the price of the i5 version of the 3820tg ,

Would someone kindly tell me the price for the i5 version? , and will there be much difference compared to the i3 version of this laptop?

As far as difference goes, only the processor is different , right?

There is no i5 version in MY, only i3 380M...
and you can use thumbdrive to reinstall OS..
