How good is the 3820TG ventilation based on the games you played above??

ah... dilemma now... 3820TG vs 4820TG... which to choose? Can list down the differences between them?

If based on Malaysia's version.. It's quite obvious dude...

Acer 3820TG @Rm21xx.. Acer 4820TG @Rm24xx

3820TG is weaker CPU with i3-380M while 4820TG with i5-480m

3820TG dun have DVD-Rom drive but it's 200-300g lighter and smaller

3820TG have 2 fans = better heat ventilation while 4820TG only have 1...

Added on January 23, 2011, 1:41 amIt's considered very good for a small laptop with such strong GPU's cause of the 2 fans inside.. Refer to first few pages for cowwithgun's temperatures when gaming..

What bothers me is the i3 and i5... I tend to think i5 is better... Can someone tell me what's the differences? what's their usage? I'm totally blur in processor..

It's a very subjective question depending on ur needs.. If you need maximum performance, of course 4820TG is the way to go..

3820TG is for portability u can bring it out easily but it doens't have a DVDRom drive...

During normal usage, both of those processors really dun have much differences... Recently, I often bring out my laptop to Uni for work and I was wishing very much that my laptop was lighter... And I seldom use the DVD-Rom drive also..

I guess you would only come to see the differences in performance during heavy work or gaming..

For me I guess I would go for 3820TG, it's a value buy also for RM21xx... I can live with the slight drop in performance.. Besides, few years ago laptops are much slower anyways, we were using them just fine also..

hmmm... from what i heard, i3 tends to throttle easily... The laptop is for gaming.. 3820TG comes with 2 fans, which kinda attracts me since Acer is famous of overheating.. (I'm using one and it overheat easily)

DVD-roms are not really useful for me... haha..
Screen size is not a problem for me also..

hmm.. u're generalising things lol... Overheating depends on what model u have...
4820TG is not in anyway of having overheating issues based on the last 56 pages of user feedback.... Gaming maximum also 80++ only even without cooler, never heard it's over 90-100...

although i3 is slightly lower on spec (2.53 vs 2.67) and without turboboost, you probably wont notice any performance at all. ya, i worry about its throttling the most since i3 is only 90C... and i reached 89C before in my extended period of gaming (4 hours or more)... i dont have any overheating issue at all. the 2 fans system work really well for me. imagine having air to flow thru from both left and right. i always think that is much better than any 1 fan system. i have completed all those games without even a cooler! the temp on both CPU and GPU still amaze me.

i'll chose 3820tg over 4820tg anytime. there is no other 13" or lower with such a powerful GPU and dual-fan system. it is unique.

i do wish it come with i5 but... guess acer need to protect 4820tg...

from what i gathered in NBR (which has more than 900 pages of discussion on 3820tg now), most american are using i3 as well, no throttling issue. check it out in notebook review forum. some of them actually swap it with a powerful i5-580 cpu!

i m putting my money where my mouth is... i m going to buy 1 more 3820tg (with i3 cpu) soon for my staff.

Well, I guess I'm generalising things. XD. I bought my mini power years ago, when both cores of my AMD athlon x2 reaches max cpu usage (100%), my pc will shutdown automatically due to overheating (90C, 5 mins only)..

I guess, I will go for 3820TG ba.. Since it's cheaper, better ventilation, and shares the same GPU with 4820TG...

erm noob here..i have acer 4738zg but dont have Acer eRecovery Management..can i donlod acer erecovery 4820tg from acer website ??

if i m not mistaken, you cant download eRecovery from Acer website. the proggie utilize the c:\OEM folder to perform backup. and that folder is huge.

moreover, i dont think u can use 4820tg driver for 4738zg....

if you want to do recovery, have you consider Alt F10?

anyway, the number of posting for 3820tg clearly indicates a lot of interest towards that model as compared to 4820tg...

you are right. eRecovery is used to make recovery cd. unfortunately, you cant download that. one way to recover that is to restore your notebook to its factory setting using Alt F10, but you will lost everything. you dont need CD to restore it to factory setting. just press Alt F10 during boot up before even windows starts.

hi guys, i plan to buy laptop for my lil brother wt budget of below RM2.2K. it will b mainly used for photo/video/audio editing & some mild gaming. im thinking of getting AS3820TG-382G50. any1 using it? wud u mind to share ur tots on it pls. what r d color choices available for AS3820TG? HDD used is 5400 or 7200? cud sm1 point out which shops in LYP selling d cheapest. tengs!

there's only 1 colour.. The HDD is 5400RPM but the one in 3820TG is exceptionally fast...

Should be able to get it for RM2100 like that according to some forummers who posted..
