Ya..the freebies only cost around RM50-70..
I was surprised when they told me RM2370 for 4820TG..
Im wondering whether it is a mistake on the price..

Recommend to upgrade to Catalyst 11.1 Mobility from AMD website. This driver should be more reliable and I get a few more FPS in many recent games. No brightness key lost as well. No temperature increased. A worth while update.

Make sure you change BIOS to discrete graphic before installing. I had problem using the installer, but installing it using "ATISetup -install" did the trick nicely. I am now using the latest ATI driver and so far, everything work nicely.

How do you update the ati driver for 3820tg??change bios to discrete graphic??
Do any thread teach us how to update gpu driver??
Or can you explain more details (step by step)??

Thanks

1. Download Catalyst 11.1 from AMD. Dont install it yet!
2. Reboot notebook, press F2 to go into BIOS
3. Look for option to switch your Graphic from "Switchable" to "Discrete"
4. Save changes and boot into Windows. Dont be alarm if Windows resolution changed.
5. Install Catalyst 11.1
6. I got error preventing me to install ut using the default installer, so if you experience the same problem, try this:
- click start
- type cmd
- right click on the cmd icon
- start as Administrator
- go to directory where you have extracted Catalyst 11.1:
o cd c:\ATI\Support\11-1_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_ocl\Bin64
o ATISetup -install
o Wait till you get back the prompt which indicates that installation is complete
7. Reboot pc, press F2 to go to BIOS
8. Select graphic back to be Switchable
9. Boot into Windows and experience the latest Catalyst and CCC

Thanks for your explanation..
I will give a try on it..

I have another laptop which is Acer 5935G with Geforce 130M..
I have problem when updating my geforce driver..
I switched discrete graphic in bios mode..
It works when installing the latest geforce driver provided by their website..
I restarted, then the geforce driver is updated to the latest version.

Afterward, I switched back to the switchable graphic in Bios..
I started back windows, the resolution is changed to SVGA/no geforce driver..
It seems like the previous installation of gpu driver in discrete graphic has "GONE" after I switched back to switchable graphic..

Anyone can help me on this??
Sorry, if I have posted this question in wrong section..

well, i bought 3820tg (RM2120) + Super Care 1 (RM100) from Evernew @ LYP.
i did went to AllIt, 3820tg @ RM2100 but they dont hv Super Care 1. Sri Computer selling 3820tg Rm2120 + 100 as well, however i opted for Evernew bcos there giving away additional bag (Windows 7 bagpack). So got 2 bags.

Hikari85 selling 4820tg for RM2379. refer here ---> http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1064087

i guess its all depends on ur bargaining skills...
*
Thanks for your price guide...
It looks like Evernew & AllIT got the best deal currently..

Did you surveyed most of the reputable shop in lowyat??& this three store offered the best deal??

How's the windows 7 Bagpack looks like?
I tried to google it but no result return..

The Acer Backup is actually from NIT, which is a strip down version. It sucks. I tested it before, it is simply copy your file to the backup; AS IT IS. no compression, no encryption. in my opinion, it is slow some more.

I removed the application after that.

The Backup by Windows 7 is quite versatile. It is a differential backup (meaning, next time you backup, it only backup files that has been changed), and files are zip. I am using this regularly.

It's holiday today! Continue to look for AcBel in Lowyat, finally found it! Though I don't mind 65W as long as it's small, but if it is small, and 90W, why not?  rolleyes.gif But i think i got rip off, shop sold to me at RM180, no discount even though I told him Melaka selling RM140... however, this AcBel came with a regular 3 pin socket. I am swapping the socket with HuntKey 2 pin, which is much smaller and lighter  tongue.gif This is going to be my travel pack.
