QUOTE(bucharestophere @ Oct 18 2010, 09:42 AM) Isn't that the usual course of actions taken by Asians? Get an engineering degree then jump into business. But seriously, university has the potential to suck out the interests in things which you were initially interested in, too much technical mojo I guess. But then again, commerce is easier to relate to and apply in the real world. When I was flipping through my friend's engineering textbook, I was @.@ . hi ggburne, recently those companies you mentioned were here in Melbourne as well, and i did not score an interview slot with citibank because they were booked FULL! however i did speak to the VP of corporate banking from OCBC and he offered me a position as a trainee, pay is 3.2k and i took it! Furthemore, from what i heard from friends who got offered the MT position in Citibank said that most prob you'll be thrown into sales.. but it might not be true either.. but given the choice i would pick OCBC cuz the vp told me specifically my job description will not include any sort of sales work! i was put to corporate banking btw, your OCBC offer is in what? treasury?

I was told that we will be rotated in different departments and they will assess us based on our performance and suitability. |

I got the Citibank GE position as well from Graduan....not sure whether I want to take it because its Retail Banking. When I asked the interviewer about commercial banking or global banking, she said that all fresh grads in Citibank have to go through 2 years of Retail Banking before they can ask for a change to the other divisions. Unless u're in the MA program la then can enter straight.
Based on the slide show they gave the GE has its on rotations within Retail Banking la....If the GE program is purely a sales position...vomit blood... |

Within one year period, there will be assignments and on job training at each different department. BUT if realllly 2 years in Retail Banking, that is FML moment haha This post has been edited by ggburne: Oct 18 2010, 06:54 PM |

BAT only went to Melbourne damn it ! hahaha. True though, tough decision. The good thing about Citibank is that you are not bonded to them but you have to give notice before leaving and probably you have to pay one or 2 month salary to them. Tough choice mate. You can get up to 6 months bonus !! 6 x 3500+ around 20k .. 2 months = 7k.. damn hahahahI'm just afraid once go inside retail banking...cannot come out....start with such good prospects end up with a shitty outcome I also got to the final round of BAT management trainee programme....have to go back Malaysia n interview with the director to the get job... Added on October 19, 2010, 4:01 pmoh, and there are a few levels for assistant manager, which are Q, R, S i think... if not then Q and R... so you will have to go from Q -> R -> S then only manager level T... something like that... This post has been edited by eRiCCa: Feb 22 2012, 11:41 PM |

QUOTE(eRiCCa @ Oct 19 2010, 03:58 PM) assistant manager is the entry level role, and everyone is an assistant manager, and almost everyone is a fresh grad... the pay is about there... as when i was there last time, there was baisc + 2 months contractual bonus... and now, i think they took off the contractual bonus already, thus the higher basic... which amounted to a similar sum... Finally! an insiderAdded on October 19, 2010, 4:01 pmoh, and there are a few levels for assistant manager, which are Q, R, S i think... if not then Q and R... so you will have to go from Q -> R -> S then only manager level T... something like that... So do u recommend the GE program in Citibank? After the GE would we be able to transfer to other departments or are we stuck in consumer banking? |

QUOTE(kycha @ Oct 19 2010, 04:45 PM) Finally! an insider to be honest, i am not too sure about GE program... but i think in most cases, you can move around within the banks... as long as your current superior is letting you go and the next superior is willing to take you... SOMETIMES, the current just loves you too much and not willing to let you go then the future one is afraid to fight with the current one... hahahaa... So do u recommend the GE program in Citibank?
