Just noticed something new. WHile Alliance Bank's Visa exchange rate is through the roof (well covered in this thread and my blog), I found the Mastercard exchange rate to be quite comparable to the other Mastercards and current exchange rate. It is starting to look like a system/programming/policy problem?

hi guys, maybank offered AMEX Green Charge Card to me and AMEX Gold Credit Card to my wife...
is it both cards waived fees for whole life? (except RM50 service charges)
worth to keep it for any specific purpose? (such as discount from shop)

tried to look on m2u website seem dont have any info about green charge card...

seem like green charge card only can get MR points, how can i do the redemption with MR points?
*
Both Amex Green Charge & Amex Gold Credit Card are ysing MR points. Redemption is via Maybank but different catalog from normal Maybank cards (treatpoints).

Was looking at my OCBC statement, and just realized I got charged interest. Although the bulk of the interest was reversed off due to the 0% interest promotion, there is a portion of interest that was not. A call to the CS gives me the answer: "This is the interest on the GST, which is not covered by the 0% promotion".

I asked them to waive as I made more than the minimum payment to even cover the GST in full.

Anyone have the same problem?

DID U manage to get interest on the GST waived?

I call the CS to enquire about the same situation and they reply that as long as u pay the minimum payment no interest will be charge on the GST.

2 weeks ago made few transactions at Singapore with DAWMC, Alliance Visa and OCBC Titanium. Alliance conversion forex rate was the highest followed by DAWMC and OCBC. OCBC and DAWMC rate about the same. Alliance rate was 1.24% higher when comparing to the other two cards.

Last year when I used Alliance Visa at Singapore the rate was comparable to MBB. No more using Alliance Visa for me for overseas transactions.
*
Yeah the Alliance Visa is banned from overseas transactions. Alliance MC's rate still looks ok

I noted you mentioned few posts back that Alliance MC overseas rate still ok. Told my wife to go get her own Alliance MC Plat since she has PB banking with them (she has 5 supp cards from me, so when she go buy her stuffs with her own card she won't hear me nagging how expensive the things are when I see the statements, ahaha) and this will also help her build her own Credit History. I kind of like Alliance because of their evergreen reward points and cash back capped at RM800+ per annum.
*
Yeha I found the rate to be quite similar to the OCBC Titanium. Will monitor further of coz in case they do some stealth adjustments like the Visa

Since your wife is a Alliance PB customer, can we get her to complain abt the Visa rates?

Thanks advise.

Since i'm not staying at Msia, so far i didn't enjoy any benefit from local card issuer. BTW my HSBC offer me 3+% interest some more holding lots unit from them. So far that is best services their provided compare with other bank.

Heard that ocbc titanium offer until end of till year, so far not interest with those short term offer, consider standchart privilege from worldwide, airport lounge entry. Does cimb offer better?

Citibank will keep it unless . .  . ( lost it ??? )  haha . . . best card !! no preset limit . . Compare with previous rhb VI, differ class, better n better. . .

What do you think about UOB prefered Plat ? Their asking me to take just keep relation with them cos today i go to cxl my card !
*
Actually since you are overseas, the OCBC Titanium is the best for you since the rebates are based on MCC codes (which are assigned by Visa and Mastercard). I can attest to getting rebates for dining, petrol and groceries overseas smile.gif

Just have to do proper spending planning to not charge more than RM1k to the card from January onwards (@ RM50 rebate, card pays itself by the first month) which is usually quite simple due to the foreign currency rates.

Currently I am tracking my spending to make sure i don't spend more than RM2k on 5% rebate categories and likewise on the 1% rebate general items every month. Total Rebate after 2nd month of usage -> RM235++

OCBC only participant with certain merchants, not much rebate getting from them. Just consider 1% off all other purchase, the point of view, i won't enjoy like 5% categories rewards since oversea purchase not entitle this offer although MCC codes based, their still go tru as all other purchase. Don't belief, you try it.  blink.gif

Think you did not read my post correctly. OCBC is not attached to merchants. I was getting 5% rebates for overseas groceries, petrol and dining. So yeah I've tried it smile.gif

Your gain or loss whether you believe me or not.

For overseas spending, how does ocbc calculate the rebate?

Say, McDonald's Singapore, swiped SGD15.00. Do I get 15x5%=RM0.75? Or SGD15*2.2*5%=RM1.65? Thanks.
*
all overseas spending is converted into RM value for rebate calculaton so it is SGD15*2.2*5%=RM1.65

Trying "utilise" OCBC Titanium 0% Interest until 31 Dec 2010.
Here's my scenario

Statement Date: 15 Oct 2010,
Amount Due: RM10000
Minimum Paid: RM500
1. No Interest is charged on RM9500, right ?

Statement Date: 15 Nov 2010,
Amount Due: RM10000 + RM9500
Minimum Paid: RM975
2. No Interest is charged on RM18525, right ?

Statement Date: 15 Dec 2010,
Amount Due: RM1475 + RM18525
Minimum Paid: RM1000
3. No Interest is charged on RM19000, right ?

Is the above 3 statements (1)/(2)/(3) correct ?
We should settle all outstanding before 31 Dec 2010, right ?
*
That's my understanding as well. Settle entire Dec statement balance before Dec 31 to get Dec transactions interest-free

Is there an overlap on these two benefits?
1. 0% interest free period from now till 31-dec-2010.
2. 50% rebate on interest paid from now till 31-july-2011.

How would OCBC treat retail transactions between 15-dec to 14-Jan-2011?
*
My understanding 1) applies to retails transactions. 2) only applies from 1 Jan 2011 for retail transactions. Maybe BT and Cash Advance applies from now.

transactions from 15dec to 14 Jan 2011 should be interest free as long as u settled the entire statement amount cfor 14Dec2010 before the due date. Else u get charged interest from 1Jan2011 to 14Jan2011 (which 50% can be rebated).
