Is the Maybank normal Platinum credit card 2x Treatpoints for overseas transactions still valid ? Remember someone mentioned this a while ago but they did not state anything about 2x Treatpoints at all in their website. Can someone please confirm ?

With Alliance Bank Visa rate now comparable to other cards, I reapply for MBB Petronas Plat Visa last week and today called up CS and was told application has been approved.

So anyone here knows if get 2X for overseas spending with MBB Petronas Card?
Think it was me smile.gif

I am still in constant debate/argument with MBB CS. Some say got, some say don't have. Have an email from MBB CS which says the card qualifies, but still no points in my account.

The link to the promo
http://www.maybank2u.com.my/mbb_info/m2u/p.../PRO-Promotions

It is quite hidden tho tongue.gif

Edit: Just got off the phone again. Co-brands cards need not apply for plat priviledges mad.gif Gonna ask them to convert my card to a standard Visa plat (and hopefully don't need to pay GST)

I put all my transactions in Excel to mark which is 5% and 1% to the best of my knowledge.
The final rebate calculation of mine is exactly the same as OCBC's

Haha same methodology.

How does DA 6 months 0% Balance Transfer work? During the period do I need to pay a minimum payment of 5%?
*
think to avoid confusion, if you only pay 5%, you will need to pay interest on the balance.

A 0% 6-month balance transfer will see the bank charging you your transfer amount/ 6 every month for 6 months, which you pay in full to avoid interest

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Nov 17 2010, 11:21 PM)
after i read above, i more confuse, hahaha

For DA BT, very simple. DA will open separate account where you only need to pay 5% of the BT amount (and following months 5% of the outstanding amount) and whatever not paid (i.e. 95% of amount) will be interest free for that month. However must settle in full by end of six months and close the account else will get high interest charges on the 7th month.
*
ah sorry. was under the impression that a balance transfer is akin to a 0% easy payment scheme

ok thanks. how about the points i can get from oversea transaction using amex cc ?
*
just the normal 2x points. 3x promo ended last month.

Amex is not really recommended as it imposes one of the highest forex admin charges.

I see, thanks for correction and the smile points will not expired with minimum transaction per year if i'm not mistaken. not like Petronas Mesra point, will expire. Do petronas' own mesra point do have on the spot fuel redemption?
*
Think Mesra points will only expire if you did not use the card for X months. Yeah u can do on the spot redemption by using it like a credit card at the pump. Cleared mine to 0 when I moved to Esso/Mobil tongue.gif

Sorry sir, not able to assist you, I also want to know anybody else got points from MBB to offset GST.

I myself would have to pay RM50 GST to MBB soon as they have approved my re-application for Petronas Plat.

I only read in this thread once where a member got extra points to offset the GST.

Reason I getting MBB again is because next year onwards will be travelling more often overseas.

*
You might want to change the application to a normal Plat since it is for overseas use

Not keen with HSBC promotions. In the previous cash back promotion, I swapped during the 25% cash back time but only got 10% cash back, Feel cheated to say the least.

Just got a call from Alliance bank, asking me whether did i apply for their credit card, they managed to get my name and ic correct, however all other details is incorrect, and i did not apply for any credit card from Alliance.

Anyone experience this before? I am afraid someone might be using my IC and apply for the CC, what should i do next? Report to BNM?
*
You could report to BNM. Best to get a CCRIS report and see whether there are any credit facilities that do not belong to you

since starting jan next year, OCBC titanium rebates capped at only RM50/month, any suggestion for another cash rebates card with no annual fee?
*
more details on your spending pattern.. will you be using the card for petrol or general purchases etc.?

Cards with cashback you can look at:

SCB Business Plat - 0.5% CB + Points
CTB Cashback Plat - various 5% petrol to 0,3% general
Amex Gold CC - 2x points equivalent to 1% CB and 5x points items equivalent to 2.5% CB
Alliance Bank cards (plat, gold, younique)

Found out extra benefit from OCBC Titanium
http://www.ocbccards.com.my/titaniumPrivileges.aspx
- Free travel insurance
- Charge min RM3k to air ticket/travel package, free entrance to KLIA lounge
*
Nort really useful as the 5% categories do not include flights. With a limit of RM50 a month (only RM1k spending) better to prioritize for those categories.

I just gt my cc.. and my hv a due of RM50 (i guess the tax thingy)... Do i have u settle tis immediately? do they charge interest on this RM 50?
*
Yes they do. To be frank. If you cannot afford RM50, you shouldn't use/hold the card at all. If you are looking for a waiver/rebate, just treat it as a credit next month if you get it.

Darnz... i just transfered rm 50 to the credit card.. tought it will clear my balance due... but it increased the limit.. previous was RM 5930 now went to Rm 5980 and the due rm 50 is still there.. Actually how should i clear tis due?
*
err.. the charge will be there. Your payment will just be reflected as a payment. Normally you only pay when you get the statement. Since you already deposited RM50, your statement will be less this amount when you get it.

*
Tax are charged on cards even though they are not "active" but issued. You would need to cancel the cards to avoid tax.

I would like to ask.

Lets say I would like to cancel a credit card, with all the debts being fully paid.

But then I have lost the card as well, would I incur any penalties or do I need to produce the card to the bank in the event of cancellation?

Thanks.
*
Some banks need but you should try cancelling over the phone. Do it quick as if it is a lost card, someone might abuse it. Correct method is to report a lost card but decline a replacement. But some banks still charge you for it.
