I see. Thanks  notworthy.gif
I see...mid rage kits are like erm Sonar 2007?  hmm.gif

I'm lost lolz  icon_question.gif
*
Sonor 2007/3007 has now been replaced by Select Force/Essential Force. Same thing basically biggrin.gif except the Essential now has birch shells.

Yeah, those are midrange. The Tama Superstar is midrange, the Epic is midrange, Yamaha Stage Customs, Gretsch Catalina and some of the Pearl Visions. Some.

QUOTE(Jenglot @ Nov 30 2011, 03:43 PM)
sonor range im not so sure...but with the price of their mid range, i prefer stage custom...
*
The Stage Custom is a brilliant set. If you can afford one, go for it. Or just take the Ludwig Epic wink.gif HAHAHAHA!

The thing is, the Stage Custom is on the higher side of the midrange ones la, about 5k-ish I believe. But it is a a really good set.

The thing with sales and buying stuff in general... I've long learned that if there's a good deal at hand, there's no point waiting.
My last purchase was a deeply discounted 20" HHX china and a 22" Paragon ride and I didn't even plan to stop by 'coz the sale was already going downhill then... was moving house at that time so my mind wasn't on drums either.
Looking back, I'm sure glad I spent a few minutes to stop by. These things come and go so quickly.
*
I completely agree. It was the same thing with my HHX hats. I just wanted to find out when their sale was, so I could save up, and perhaps buy something in a couple months time or so; and they said it was the last day!

It's ok buddy. no worries. thx anyway. smile.gif btw have you ever try the mapex falcon direct drive double pedal? is it any good?
*
Never tried the Falcon lorh biggrin.gif HAHAHAHA! But then again, I'm not really a direct drive person. Never seen one in Msia before though. I have seen the Raptors though. But I think the Falcon has more top of the line features.

QUOTE(5p3ak @ Dec 5 2011, 07:30 PM)
^ I'd take Tama Speedcrobras over them anyday even tho it isn't Direct Drive tongue.gif

@ isaac: I wanna ask if I oder smth tru u and no stock means have to wait? Or Forever bo liao? unsure.gif
*
The Speedcobras are amazing rclxm9.gif I wish I had the cash for them. Actually, I do. :/ So whaddya think? That? Or go for a snare? tongue.gif

Hmm... No lah. I can still order wan actually from overseas. Its just that, especially for drums, it may end up costing a lot more than it is supposed to cost, especially if you want to buy something this cheap, as you will be paying about 1/3 of the price more, or even more than that.

For example, this MPX is about US$145. With shipping + taxes + handling, I expect the price to be close to RM800 - RM1000 lah, so in that case, in my opinion, might as well get a Black Panther from here, at about the same price. smile.gif IMHO lah.

QUOTE(5p3ak @ Dec 6 2011, 07:48 AM)
^ IC? Powerful but a bit "sluggish"

tongue.gif
*
IC, again, it depends which model you're playing.

I use the Rolling Glide, which is extremely smooth, but at first you may not feel the "speed" of how it cuts through compared to the Power Glide. BUT in actual fact, it is possible to reach high speeds with both pedals; just a matter of personal taste. Portnoy used the Rolling Glide wink.gif HAHAHAHA!

I've never tried the other one though. The Flexi Glide.

Love the smoothness of direct drive.
Love the power of chain drive.

so how? smile.gif

Shouldn't the Speedcobras be suitable for your needs then? (:

if it's me, i'll probably get myself the SC. smile.gif btw what pedal are you using nw?

btw i got a friend who bought a steel MPX for himself from amazon through one of the bulk orders here in LY. original price was $143 and he had to pay around RM650++ for the thing to reach here...meaning that he had to pay extra RM180++ for the snare.i still think it's a worth buy for him because most of the low end snares from any brand cost around the same and from what i've observed, maybe more.btw went to guitar center the other day jst to check out their mapex stuffs and i saw this RM1080 black panther snare.so yeah, that's why i thought its a worth buy for him cuz its still RM400++ cheaper thn the BP and the extra RM400 in your pocket makes a lot of difference if you set your budget RM1k++ for a snare.well that's for a budget-minded person la obviously.hehehe.jst my opinion.

talking bout the RM1080 BP in GC, whats its actual model? it's a 14x5.5 steel shell btw.
wooot~axis? shocking.gif dang...really want to try that one  drool.gif
*
I'm using the Rolling Glides.

Hmm... bulk order, of course cheaper, yes. But longer wait times lah smile.gif Either ways, the Black Panthers are (literally and figuratively) a class above the MPXs.

I think that is the Black Panther Blade, you're talking about. RM1088 in GC.

QUOTE(5p3ak @ Dec 6 2011, 07:49 PM)
Go for the SC then sell me the IC xD

OIC means if no stock have to wait for the distributor got stock?  rclxub.gif

Wait I thought Portnoy uses SC?  hmm.gif
Sell me the SC lorh  laugh.gif  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
HEHEHEHE XD Saving up for a snare. I'll just stick to my ICs for now.

Hmm.. no stock usually means Msia no stock, but can get overseas lah.

Portnoy uses the SCs now biggrin.gif But before that, he was using the Rolling Cobras for pretty much most of his DT work.

yeap, BPs are definitely in the higher end compared to MPXs.

any of you tried gibraltar double pedals?
*
So, might as well go for BP mahh. biggrin.gif Then not so necessary to upgrade later on.

Yep, I've played quite a few Gibraltar double pedals. Value for money if you're on a lower budget lah; relatively sturdy.

smoothness-wise? or isit as sluggish as other lower end pedals?
*
I'd definitely place it above most other low-end pedals, especially the ones that come stock with most low-mid range kits. Depends which one you take though smile.gif But they're generally alright. Of course, nothing compared to the higher end stuff lah.

pork pie the old stock or they have a new stock? wonder why JS dont carry cymbals except their own JS brand of cymbals?
*
I don't think they have been bringing in new stock for a while. Not sure, though. Can call and check biggrin.gif

Hmm... I guess the Malaysian market isn't big enough to warrant bringing in a good quality smaller/boutique brand to market against the big 4 (Zildjian, Sabian, Meinl and Paiste). Even now, how often do you see Istanbul and other brands like that being used?

What brands do you think they ought to bring in? I think TRX would do alright.

But I really want to see Dream and UFIP in Malaysia someday smile.gif

Anyway, the J Cymbals are made in the same factory as Stagg. So you're getting the same quality for about 30-50% off the price.

Same here. biggrin.gif It sounds pretty good, actually.

Anyway, I might be getting a Sabian AA Medium Ride 20' in a trade with a forumer later today, but I already use an AAX 20' Stage Ride and a Paragon 22' ride, so I won't have much use for this.

Anyone interested in it?

Looking to sell it, or trade it for a crash+stand maybe?

I'm using an AAX 20' Stage Ride and a Zildjian 20' A Custom Mastersound at the moment. The A Custom, not so much, cause I love my Sabians biggrin.gif I tend to use the 22' Paragon only in the studio. Heavy to carry around laaa. tongue.gif And I prefer my AAX tone for some reason. The bell on the Paragon is astounding though.

Pork Pie only new old stock available. Anyone know where I can grab a good Bronze / Brass 13inch snare?
*
Budget?

But yes, the Black Panther Brass one sounds pretty alright, for the price; no doubt it is 14'.
You could look at the Ludwig Black Magic, I think. It's 13 x7, I believe. And there's also the Yamaha Brass one. I forgot what it's called. xD

But for side snares (or even a tight main) for cheap, there's always the Pearl Brass Piccolo. Best cheap range I've ever played before. Even the Steel one isn't too shabby.
