*
Probably the traditional year end sale smile.gif
I'll be there... Getting loaded up with a a few Sabians and AT least ONE snare tongue.gif

I'm looking out for.... HHX Evo splashes, AAX/AA crashes on that day biggrin.gif

For snares... Mushashi, Sensitive and Weckl biggrin.gif

QUOTE(Jimsee @ Nov 22 2010, 04:46 PM)
anyone using Tama Superstar Hyperdrive ?

planning to get one..

how's the tuning and sound-wise ?

i play mostly pop/rock.
*
I've had quite a bit of experience with the Superstar Hyperdrive.

Personally, I feel that its... okay. Not great, not bad. Just okay.

The Hyperdrive toms sound pretty flat to me, and while allowing for a more versatile set-up, by being shallow, sometimes, you just need that... that deep think tone xD

Don't get me wrong, the sound is good, but yes, it takes a quite bit of tweaking to get the sound you want.

Its high pitched, so get the coated Pinstripes or Emperors (not sure what the Evans equivalent would be) for the toms for a more tweaky set up smile.gif

Pros:
Versatile set-up
Good resale value
Great high pitch
Starcast system
Good sound, great build, and looks.

Cons:
Not much sound variety
Relatively shallow toms (could be pro or con smile.gif )
Not many memory locks (for giggers)

It is a good drumset. Let your ears guide you smile.gif

I wanna ask if i get 2 toms (8" and 10") including stand for around rm100 is it worth? One of the tom have remo head, brand is unknown. Items are used items.
*
Do you know what type of wood it is? Will it match your drumset?

QUOTE(Jimsee @ Nov 22 2010, 11:08 PM)
Thanks for you opinion. Appreciate it. thumbup.gif

any other good recommends which you can suggest ?  I'm trying  to broader up my choice anyway.  Budget RM4-5k .
*
What are you looking for? A jazz setup? Many toms? 2 snares? Basic 5 piece?

QUOTE(brokenbomb @ Nov 23 2010, 12:06 AM)
wintersun - wat model of drum is that?
jimsee - if ur in kl. go to various drum shops and try..haha

but drums that ngam with ur budget is the PDP M5, Pearl Vision Series, Tama Superstar, Sonor Force 2007 or 3007, Ludwig Epic or Element, Ddrum..dominion? haha
*
You could get

Tama Superstar (several models)
PDP M5, X7.
Ddrum Dominion (ASH/MAPLE), Duo Fade and Diablo
Pearl Vision etc.

But if you ask me to recommend, I'd go with the Ludwig Epic. Beautiful finishes, great tone. I've been using it for quite a while already, and for that price range, I couldn't recommend anything better. And comparatively, its cheap. You could get an extra crash for the price difference between that and the Hyperdrive.

Don't hesitate to contact me for special prices wink.gif

Heads up!
Yamaha sale is 26th to 28th November at the KJ place.
*
Not much discounts. Up to 15% on cymbals, 10% on drums, according to an insider. Stands and clamps are up to about 50% if I'm not mistaken.

I don't think its worth going for, unless you wanna buy guitars, etc. Those are up to about 50-70%.

QUOTE(AhBoy~~ @ Nov 25 2010, 10:43 PM)
where is KJ place?

Near customs, Kelana Jaya.

Well for start.. i don't have a kit (yes sad isn't it? :\) i usually just play in jamming studios.. recorded some vids of me playin cover music too. had my own band which made me start my drumming..

all self thought by listening to music, air drumming and play for real whenever i have the chance. all instruments i play are self thought.. so i can't read notes LOL

my main influence would be saosin, ill nino, blindspott, breaking benjamin, paramore.. yeah no real genre.. well i play mostly metal. I try to play all genre where i can.. but it still depends if i like the music or not biggrin.gif

i am trying to get my own kit but i have other priorities atm.. hehe
*
Ahh.. Its alright xD Good things come to those who wait. smile.gif

ahboy - ultimate music smile.gif

xilence - vmx all the way smile.gif birch has a bit punchier tone than the warmness of a maple. but since ur saying u prefer rock..birch is ok too but hey. vmx is a step closer to mcx imo. with rubber gaskets, master bass drum spurs and brass inserts.

penang? x tau oh. haha. oh and u should do a price check up. vx paling murah i think they can give rm2.8k++ vsx rm3.2k++ vbx not sure vmx is around rm4k?
*
VX and VSX retail is around RM3.2k.
Give me a PM, I can get for you from RM2.6k-RM2.8k.

The VMX too, I can get for you at 3k+, VBX I'm not sure of the price.

And yes, brokenbomb is right, VMX is pretty close to a Masters MCX. Or, you could get the VBX and get yourself a new snare or crash smile.gif

neway i need it to ship to penang or u have dealer in penang?
*
I suggest you take a drive down and bring it back. It will still be cheaper than buying in Penang smile.gif

Nop but I plan to switch to one acoustic set one day with budget of course. I head Sonor is best for its price range and the wood used are good esp the Force 3007 studio and Jungle set. Never tested one before though.
*
Hmm... Its personal preference, honestly. The retail price is RM4890 with hardware for the Studio and the Stage. I could get it for you around RM4000 only. The Jungle set, is a bass drum, a tom and a floor tom, no skins no hardware for RM3000 retail, PM me for a special price wink.gif

Both the Sonor drums I've played (3007 and Extreme Force), among other Sonor snares and such, have sounded great, and yes, for the price, they are extremely worth it. A great low-end, and great projection.

However, if you had about RM5000 to spend, I could get you the Yamaha Stage Custom (RM6199 retail), which is, in my opinion, much better than any Sonor within the RM8k price limit and any Yamaha drummer would certainly concur.

It is a professional drumset, and is, by all standards, much better than the Sonor, in terms of reliability, hardware, etc.

The Sonor hardware is a bit dodgy here and there in my opinion.

Do check out the Ludwig Epic, only RM4000 retail, but in my humble opinion, also better than the Sonor F3007.

Don't get me wrong, the Sonor is a brilliant drumset, there's one in my church, and it's a great option, a very versatile option in fact, for drummers.

Wow I never knew you're a dealer too  laugh.gif And i never really check any of those prices but seeing at the retail price and your selling price, its seems a fair deal. RM5000 is  big thing to fund yet. Rm2-3k would be great though.
*
Save up about RM3400 and I'll get you a Ludwig Epic. wink.gif

Besides that, yes I guess your best choice would be a used Superstar or Vision smile.gif

thnx guys really appreciate the feedbacks smile.gif
btw i;ve actually follow a friend down to KL today , he came down to see some customers so i tagged along to check out and test afew pieces of drumset at jalan imbi, i've tested sonor force 3007, Pdp M5, Ddrum Duo(cant remember lol) but havent get to try Pearl vision, i saw u guys talk about Ludwig Epic, now im really confused which one should i get. the Ddrum and Pdp have good offer , comes with hardware etc and some gifts like cowbells lol...i just know i should get Maple wood for low and mid tone as i play more rock songs.
More exactly my budget for the drumset is about 3.5-4k (without cymbals) , 5 pieces set, color preference is Black or Silver, Sound preference is Medium and low.
And i would really like to know is it not every drumset comes with hardwares??
any suggestion for a budget like tht? total i have about 5k to spend only for the drumset.
sry if i ask too much as once, but i really like to get one set as soon as possible T,T
thnx alot guys!! smile.gif cheers!
*
The Epic comes with bronze hardware, and its a 6 piece set smile.gif which you can configure for three rack toms or two floor toms. Very versatile smile.gif
QUOTE(sarvinG @ Dec 1 2010, 10:26 AM)
Ok so what I've been hearing around is true bout the bass. The kick, the "boom" is not that. Well, its compact series. Easy to move around. Only thing is its 9 ply maple wood.
*
Yup smile.gif Well... Have you ever heard a Ludwig (Other than the Accent xD) that didn't have have a lovely BOOM sound? wink.gif Go listen to all the Ludwig artists, or heck. Go try one in Bentley.

The Ludwig Epic is birch/maple/birch. A great combo of everything smile.gif You get the power and the low end.

TD9 kx is expensive. Around rm10k not sure how much in Malaysia. But i once saw someone successfully bid a new kit for around rm3k. I was going to bid for it just that I didnt have enough cash that time and I didnt thought the guy would get so lucky. Usually there will be many ppl bid against him if the price is so low. Maybe just his lucky day
*
I can get it new for about 8k lah.. I was playing the DTXtreme the other day. Was really really nice smile.gif

are the precussions decent?

The Pearl Exports are pretty decent I'd say. Up to the end of the production line about a couple years back, they were the world's best selling drums smile.gif

QUOTE(sarvinG @ Dec 1 2010, 10:07 PM)
I think i'll go for Pearl based on that budget. Yamaha drums are better if they are the higher ends one, IMO. russellhere, why don't check out the Tama Imprealistar? That one is good too.
*
Actually, I believe from the midrange they're already pretty alright smile.gif Stage Custom biggrin.gif

The Tama Imperialstar is alright for a starting set, as long as you change your heads.

hey guys, its me again.. i've made up my mind to get a Ludwig epic, just wanna ask is there any different type of Ludwig Epic? from the net i saw theres someone said "down beat" or "punch" etc etc...
and if i get it with Bronze  hardware means if i want to add another tom nxt time i have to get the ludwig also right?  how much is the 6pieces Ludwig Epic? does it comes with cymbal stands etc? thnx again! smile.gif
*
There isn't much difference between all the types, except the sizes, I believe. However, Bentley only has one, which I believe is the "funk" size. Don't worry, it can still play everything, and its beautiful wink.gif

The retail price is RM4090, PM me for your special price.

Even if you don't get the bronze hardware, usually if you get a brand, you stick with it smile.gif But no, its not necessary, you can get other toms and all, except that, if you choose a weird colour, they won't match wink.gif
