can anyone recommend me a value-for-money "non-entry level" drum set model which is suitable enough for recordings and gigs , mainly for death/black metal players? thanks !

I see plenty Pearls/Tama/etc... for under RM2K (without cymbals), but aren't those "entry level/practice" drums?

If u want good quality that u can keep for a long time get the tama starclassic B/B performer or yamaha rock tour custom...better still u can scout on ebay..hehehe...get a birch or oak shell coz they are bright coz u wanna get ur bass drum to be heard when u blast em double riding kicks.. =)

gotta agree with bro wintersun on that.start young, and most importantly buy your OWN SET if it's possible when you're still young.it's much easier for you to improve with the combination of young age+own set to practice on.i've been drumming for 8 years but never improve much..ketuk2 kaki+pijak2 lantai only when practicing..the only drum i own is a snare drum and that's all.the only chance i have to bang on some real drums is when i go for jamming session with friends.quite jelly when i see certain people started drumming only 2 years ago but so damn pro already while me, 8 years but level like drummer for org kahwin band only.moral of the story,GO GET YOURSELF A KIT.hehehehe.btw Blessed Christmas to any of you celebrating. biggrin.gif

Nope, recently I've been playing alot on other people's kits. smile.gif HAHAHAHA! And I've been concentrating a lot on guitar gear this year, not drum gear.

What's your budget mate? Its hard for us to recommend anything if we don't know your "limited budget".

I can agree with what you guys have said, and I know what you mean when you say that people drumming for 2 years are already so much better than you, but I don't think buying a kit is that important. I read that one local drummer of a band, doesn't have his own kit at home, but just practices a lot with his snare pad and kick pad.

And either way, I know a couple drummers (not personally) who only started drumming, or started taking it seriously in their 20s, and they are pretty good. One of them is endorsed by Meinl wink.gif HAHAHAHA!
