yep, messed up mentality basically killed it again this time.. i dont understand, theres no registration fee, so why not just try your luck and get some experience.

ask yourself the reason youre playing this game competitively in the 1st place..

damn.. what a waste. but i personally feel they should not categorize amateur and pro cup.. this is because most of the players out there have that kind of mentalilty. and most of the teams registered are from amateur cup registration..

we should make 2 prelims.. top 3 qualify. the implementation of medals is a very GOOD idea, it gives sentimental value tongue.gif

But the ban list is for the amateur cup, not for the pro cup. So I fail to see how the ban list would effect the pro cup's poor registration rate.

If this is the case, then I could say for sure there won't be any amateur nor pro cup in the future. Just an open to all CS 1.6 tournament.

Agree with Open CS1.6 competition. If we still stick with Amateur Cup , I don't think our CS Community will get better. Someone out there need to learn and understand their real world. Amateur Cup can't go far. But most people will aim for better prize lah seems like Amateur Cup got better prizing than Pro Cup from my point of view, is it not ? >_< Roccat Merchandise.

There wouldn't be much difference to be honest, a Open Cup, Pro Cup/Amateur Cup will always produce the same result if the mentality is the same.

Look at it this way, the new players are afraid to play against the bigger names, if they don't dare join a tournament which is FREE, what is the likely hood of them joining a Open Tournament where there is a registration fee and on top of that, a more or less guarantee of the top teams attending.

I personally think that this Amateur/Pro Cup is an excellent idea as it gives the new teams and players a taste of real competition and not to mention the chance to walk away with 1500 RM plus merchandise !!. Hell I wish I had that opportunity when I was starting out.

I hope that we as a country change our mindset and think further ahead. Yes its nice to have that winning sensation and those really snazzy prizes but in order to take it to the next level, some sacrifices must be made.

For those mid-tier teams (which is the category I am in now), I would just advise you guys to be persistent and keep on trying no matter how many times you fail. Learn from your past mistakes and move on from there. Don't be afraid of playing against the bigger names as the gap between us and them isn't incredibly large.

Sometimes its better to lose in the first round against a pro team and learn a lot more then winning in the finals against a bunch of newcomers if you know what i mean. Then again, all of this is just my opinion tongue.gif

u had the opportunity.. u just didnt take it =P amateur tourneys have been around forever.

and i have nothing against amateur tournies, but not when it affects the scene this way.. an open tourney gets canceled cause the lack of participants when the amateur one gets like 20 teams with teams on the waiting list...

How does it reflect on the community on the whole, when the local distributor of the game are the ones organising, an entry free tournament with sponsored cash prizes to boot and not enough teams show up?

The mentality of the newer teams are, for the lack of a better word, disheartening. We would have thought that the whole CiC7.MY fiasco with the lack of teams, earlier this year was the wake up call for the local CS community.

There is no shame in losing, if you gave it your best and in the process learnt something new. Thats the only way to improve your game. If you keep playing against weaker teams, you'll never amount to much.

Some of you seriously need to re-evaluate your goals for playing CS competitively. Alot of you talk the talk. Damn shame that not many walk the walk.
