There wouldn't be much difference to be honest, a Open Cup, Pro Cup/Amateur Cup will always produce the same result if the mentality is the same.
Look at it this way, the new players are afraid to play against the bigger names, if they don't dare join a tournament which is FREE, what is the likely hood of them joining a Open Tournament where there is a registration fee and on top of that, a more or less guarantee of the top teams attending. I personally think that this Amateur/Pro Cup is an excellent idea as it gives the new teams and players a taste of real competition and not to mention the chance to walk away with 1500 RM plus merchandise !!. Hell I wish I had that opportunity when I was starting out. I hope that we as a country change our mindset and think further ahead. Yes its nice to have that winning sensation and those really snazzy prizes but in order to take it to the next level, some sacrifices must be made. For those mid-tier teams (which is the category I am in now), I would just advise you guys to be persistent and keep on trying no matter how many times you fail. Learn from your past mistakes and move on from there. Don't be afraid of playing against the bigger names as the gap between us and them isn't incredibly large. Sometimes its better to lose in the first round against a pro team and learn a lot more then winning in the finals against a bunch of newcomers if you know what i mean. Then again, all of this is just my opinion This post has been edited by mattshim: Nov 19 2010, 07:12 PM |
