The HD 5650 is equivalent (or slightly better on some benchmarks) than the GT435m. But sony underclocked their graphic card, so it generates less heat. So the 5650 card in the sony will be below the GT435m

However the processor in the Sony is the i5-560m, clocked at 2.66Ghz and max turbo boost to 3.2GHz. The i7-740qm in the XPS 15, is clocked at 1.73GHz and boost to 2.66Ghz, but it shuts down 2 cores. So you have 2 cores at 2.66Ghz, as compared to 2 cores at 3.2Ghz in the i5-560m. if i remember correctly, the i7-740qm will boost to 2.93Ghz, but will shut down 3 cores.

So for games like Call of duty, Medal of honor. It will perform better on the i5-560m. But if it is an RTS and the game supports 4 cores, then the i7-740qm can perform better. For programs like AE and Photoshop, the i7-740 will also perform better.

HP G42-352TU-WIN7SE, i3 370, without free gifts I can get it for 1600 but i am not sure whether is HP good? or 1600 can get something better?

i3 370 and P6100 big difference in performance?

The XPS don't have 3D screen
It has the HDMI 1.4 that can support 3D output to your 3D screen...
And you won't be able to play 3D games as well with that kind of GPU...

i3 370M and P6100 shouldn't have much difference in daily usage...
But for CAD, faster CPU is better...
