i went for an interview. its a 6 days job where i have to work from 9 to 5 on saturdays. the interviewer asked me if i am able to work on such hours. if i said yes, will i sound desperate in getting the job? what will be the appropriate answer?

Not really. Are you desperate to get a job? There is no appropriate answer for this question as both options would give different thoughts.

The best I could think of is say you might consider it (the working hours for Saturdays)..
*
Fact is, it IS a 6-day job, can't really say " I can consider working Sat".

If are willing to do 6-day week, by all means answer "That would not be a problem for me".

I don't think you have an option here man. Take it or leave it, ya?

Usually they'll ask " are you willing to work late? / weekends"
Then you can answer " ... might consider.." or "if its necessary to achieve our activities, then i will give my full support" or some fancy thing like that, no worries cos they probably hear it all the time.

Bottom line they comfortable with you, they'll hire you.

thank you ^^

Added on March 3, 2007, 1:57 pmi did not get the job @ Honeywell. Maybe because I did not answer this question well

"Why did u choose this line when ur first job was in the hotel line?"
My answer : I think hotel line does not suit me so I chose this line. Who knows I might be interested in this line. Everyone deserve a chance to work once right?

Did I answer wrongly?

and the next question the pop up was

"If you find it not suitable then u'll leave us after a few months?"

-.-""""""""

and how do I answer

" How well can u cope with pressure?"

*sob*

hmm.gif that is why one must not answer a question in a negative tone. Not matter how true or how honest one must be, it must always be in a positive tone.

An example of an answer:
"When i was applying for my first job, i didn't know much about it as i needed to start work soon to have an income. But after some time, i realized that the job has somehow limited the usage of my skills and abilities. Therefore, when i heard that this organization is hiring, i've done plenty of research and found out that i have a few strengths that might be beneficial of this company"

It always come to a point whether you have really led a project before. If you never handled any project, you can honestly tell the interviewer "I was not requested to lead any project before as my boss assigned me to something else"

if you have completed a project, then you should start by explaining about the objective of the project, what was the plan to reach completion. Then what was the set back you have to face and your action plan to counter these set backs. In the end, you should tell the interviewer what you gain from the completion of the project in terms of experience and monetary factors.

Most of the time, this question is ask at the early phase of any interview. Therefore, you should start with a few sentences regarding where you work currently, what you are doing in your company and what you can contribute to the new company.

they ask this question. "wat d u expect from this company?" how will u guys answer this?

*i answer it with honesty, by telling, im lookin for money, as that is the reason why ppl work, and secondary, i like to venture into the field of my interest.......

initially, i can see their(interviewer) face still considering me, after i answer that, their face totally change liao.

No wonder. I answered the same thing.
One more question is "what you see yourself in next 30 years!"
Then I try to be funny by saying.. "Perhaps the next Bill Gates"
tongue.gif I wasnt serious for the interview.

Lies on your pros and strengths are usually exaggerated and interviewers can sense them... or they might want u to show some proofs

But u may lie a little about ur weaknesses... or just hide them deep in your intestine! tongue.gif

Generally there are two scenarios. When interviewing at a recruitment agency, they can catch BS and textbook answers easily. They usually dont look at your answer, but its how you answer. Enthusiastic, confident? Sarcastic? and so on....

However if interview direct with employer usually end up they like u or not la, lie or not, up to you. Just don't paint an image that you can do everything when in fact you can't...
