hi all, i would like to ask a quick question. Today I went for an interview for a job and I decided to turn the offer down ..since I got better offer somewhere. but this job was actually referred by someone my uncle knows. Meaning my uncle actually asked for his fren's help working in that company (is it called inside referral?)..So can someone teach me how to turn them down politely?I dont want to embarass or disapoint my uncle.. @_@

ahmoi, your question is not related to this thread - as it says "STANDARD QUESTIONS DURING INTERVIEW". If you're seeking advice on issues like that, please start a new thread or piggy back on sum1's thread.

Hi there

I'm a fresh grad and currently looking for a job. I have attended 7 interviews so far.

After a certain company conducted 1st interview with me and then they call me again to attend another 2nd interview from same company same post but diff dept that I had applied earlier....seems that they sent my resume to another dept after my 1st interview. What does that means? Do i have slimmer chance to get the 1st job that I had applied on first hand as they need experienced ones for the post but higher chance to get the 2nd one that they recommended to me at first?

Btw, i asked them how many candidates for that 1 vacancy for the 2nd job they recommended me and she said only me and another person..means that I have 50-50 chance....guess that I need to work more on this interview this friday...

One last ques....What shud I ask during Q&A after the interview had finished?
Normally, I would ask about my job scope and responsibilities, will I able to attend the training or any career advancement and finally I asked about other allowances, benefits and salary...

What do u guys normally ask during interview? hmm.gif

in addition to the above, try to ask for the highest pay YOU think is acceptable... it doesn't hurt to do so, as the company will already have decided whether they will hire you before they ask you "How much you think you should get?"... if they have decided to hire you, they'll bargain with you if your price is too high... if they have decided NOT to hire you, they're just asking the question out of courtesy, won't take you in no matter how cheap you are...

Well this is not a standard question for interview .. but I'd like to ask the candidate this ...

If you have the ability to change anything .. what would you change ?

There's no wrong answer for this. I just like to see candidates constructive opinions and see if they care about their surroundings LOL ...

does yr post applicable for fresh grad?

they already stated in the interview that standard salary for fresh grad is that amount so I can't bargain much also as I'm still have no experience...

will i get affected for shortlisting if I ask how much the salary during interview? will it give me a bad impression? ohmy.gif

I think they find that you're more suitable for the other dept, thus recommended you to them. I believe it's pretty good coz they are giving you another chance. Since it's a different dept and different interviewer, you might want to ask whether there's any difference/ changes iny our job scope as compared to the 1st dept.

Yup those were abt the same stuffs I usually ask~ what else u wanna ask? Perhaps the system of how things work etc in the comp?

Just beware that putting it too high will jeapordise your chance of even getting a call for an interview. I always believe in a reasonable amount and "additional allowance" for the bargain/ nego.

Don't worry about it, you'll get used to it when you have to attend few more to find/ get the suitable job. I used to have sleepless nights just thinking about tomorrow's 'ordeal' but soon after it kinda immune to it laugh.gif had good sleep on nights before interview and I wasn't nervous until I see the interviewer(s) walking in! I was nervous for my gp interview tho coz it was something different for the first time and I didn't prepare much (coz you won't know what you'll be asked). In any case, I usually try to do a little revision on theory parts of my studies on d night before.

It's normal to be nervous smile.gif but don't fret over it.

btw this is a thread for "standard interview questions" so... kinda OOT~

if they ask about current salary should tell directly? How if they ask for payslip? Payslip should be P&C??

It depends on situation. Usually you're required to fill in your 'current salary' on the Application Form so interviewers hardly ask you directly for your current pay since it's already stated on d form. Then they will check how much you marked up (from your current pay to expected pay for this firm). They will decide whether it's justifiable or not and perhaps nego if they think you're demanding too high of a price.

Payslip is indeed P&C so you can refuse to show (just give excuse you didn't bring etc) during interviews. But if you're a staff there ady... Im not so sure whether you can refuse the HR/ Accounts from getting hold of it. We need HR experts to clarify this point ^^;

Really? It did? I'm kinda surprised.

The answer is also: depends.

Yes you can refuse to show and tell the interviewers it's P&C and you'd rather not reveal. But by doing this, it jeapordizes your chance because interviewers may suspect you did not state the truth abt current salary. They may KIV you.

Unfortunately in situation like this, it'll have to see how desperate you are. If you do not want to lose hold of any chance in getting this job, by all means - attach a photocopy of your payslip.

Hi,

I'm Fresh Graduate. I have this questions during interview.
"Do you have anyone working in this company?" what should I answer?
Is it important for them to know if someone close to me is working in there?
What is the consequences if I answer yes or no?

Another question is technical question, if I do not know the answer is it better for me to answer I don't know or Willing to learn?

Please give advice. Thank You

In some company, if you have "somebody" working in the company, the potential for you to get the job will higher.
IMO, if the "somebody" is your bf/gf or husband/wife, i think that will lower down your possibility to get the job.

If you not able to answer the technical question, I think the better way is to tell the interviewer that you don't know and will do research on the question after that.
That sound more professional than telling the interviewer that you are just going to learn.

they asked you this question might due to company policy, some company not allowed close relative work in the same company. 2nd is they want to know anybody recommended you to the company and last i will say they just asking.

Techinal question i will say is important if your job need technical knowledge. Yes if you do not know to answer better say do not know cause if you lie people will know then say tata to your job. about technical knowledge you have to do your homework cause job related or requirement you should able to answer. i will say if you do not know less chance already to get the job.
