QUOTE(Overlord118 @ Jun 29 2018, 09:23 PM) I had encountered some supernatural stuffs before but no ghosts though. I am a Buddhist and i have a lot of kumanthong statue (a deity that brings good luck. google it). This event happend 2 time already 1st was where i left my watch on the living room table at night just to find in the next morning to see it next beside the statue i didn't really paid much attention but it piqued my suspicion and 2nd experience was a crystal ball we put as a decoration for house that also went missing just to find it sitting right beside the statue. My parents too noticed it and were abit puzzled. I wonder if someone who is a buddhist too that have face this similar situation? I'm not really creeped out but now every time at night when I want to go toilet I would open my door slowly just to see if there is anything going on and maybe I might caught something else in the act post pic of your kumanthongs for k detectives bro |

I have a few. First one was when I was Form 3 back in 2011
I'm in Langkawi btw and tbh Langkawi can be quite keras though now not so much anymore with all the land development projects and sh!t going on. Anyways, on to the story. My and my family are staying in a rented house (moved to this house sometime in late 2009, as of 1st July 2018, we're still here.) We're in contact with the owners. And there used to be a white dog here, a descendant of the owner's dog that they left behind. We took her in and then two years ago had to put her to sleep due to kidney failure. That dog gave birth sometime when I was in Form 3. A week after she gave birth, I woke up early one day on the weekend. Around 6am. Nothing unusual about the time cause waking up at 6 was obviously a habit then. So I stepped outside to check on the dog (she made a den in the parking area behind the house, right in front of a forest) and there was a very strong smell of flowers. Frangipani flowers. Being savvy cause of all the ghost stories I read (har har har), I buat dunno then stepped back inside and went to get water. And as I was drinking, I just casually peeked outside and I saw this lady with hair covering her face and wearing a tattered baju kurung. She was just..standing there at the entrance to the woods next to a tree. Of course I freaked, but then had to control la...if I woke anyone up, mampus kena scolding non stop. And the next day when I went to school, I told my classmate and he said what I saw was Cik Lang aka a Langsuir. But that was 7 years ago. Most of the forest was cleared to make way for a new Taman. My friends and I went up to the cleared area a few times and encountered nothing so I can assume the land development projects scared away whatever was in the forest when they cleared it. QUOTE(Hobbez @ Jul 1 2018, 11:38 PM) You Chinese kah? Cos keeping dog, means more or less Malay ruled out. Mix actually. Half Malay, half Filipino. YMMV but some my Malay friends and even some of the older Malays I know say you can keep dog if you have valid reason. And since my house next to hutan, keeping a dog is a necessity cause I've had monkeys and snakes come into the compound before. Some of my Malay co workers from my part time days also keep dogs to jaga the house. And what has the dog got to do with the pontianak? As for Cik Ponti, I am convinced the dog had nothing to do with its presence and it was just a coincidence that the pontianak happened to be there. Also if you are kaki pancing like me, there is a good spot behind the Go-Kart track near Langkawi Airport. It's like a swamp and it's got lots of haruan and puyu. Also has keli and if you're lucky, maybe a toman that some idiot released. But dun stay too long out there in the evening. Me and my friends always cabut before 7:30 or 7:45 PM. The reason being that that very spot in the old days used to be where some of the bomoh release 'things' after exorcisms or healings, according to some of the older people who live near the area. I got confused a bit cos you live in Langkawi (only few Chinese live there) but keeping dog As for Cik Ponti, I am convinced the dog had nothing to do with its presence and it was just a coincidence that the pontianak happened to be there. I like jungle trekking and outdoors stuff but one thing I always noticed is that Malays are often afraid of hantu in the jungle and when I stay/camp alone at a remote spot (back in younger days lah, now no more), they tell me I am very brave. Even the rangers dare not stay there at night and I'm like....why?! To me the place is so beautiful! But according to most seasoned people, the jungle got a lot of hantu.... To me, it is just pure natural beauty, like how God created it and how it should be.... I think back in the olden days, like 50-100 years ago, all those village roads with thick forest on both sides with no street lamps or very few, I wonder how people travel at nite, like if they need to. Must be terrifying. This post has been edited by Hobbez: Jul 2 2018, 12:29 AM |

Some of the Arab and Turkish guys running restaurants here also keep dogs.I like jungle trekking and outdoors stuff but one thing I always noticed is that Malays are often afraid of hantu in the jungle and when I stay/camp alone at a remote spot (back in younger days lah, now no more), they tell me I am very brave. I think back in the olden days, like 50-100 years ago, all those village roads with thick forest on both sides with no street lamps or very few, I wonder how people travel at nite, like if they need to. Must be terrifying. The way I see it, these hantu in the jungle, they are like what some people call Datuk (or Datuk Kong if I am not mistaken). In Philippines, they are called Engkantos. A few old timers here told me that if these things were there to begin with and not released by whichever bomoh, usually they will leave you alone. Something about mutual respect. I was also told it helps to ask permission if you want to do sth, usually take things from the place, ask permission. Anything else, also ask permission or just state your intention. I agree with your thoughts on it being pure natural beauty though. You should visit Temurun and Telaga Tujuh waterfalls if you ever come to Langkawi. There's a zipline course at Telaga Tujuh where I used to work, give it a shot if you have $$$ to blow. Anyways, I have a few more stories to share. Stay tuned... heh. |

I am surprised, usually it is jungle rangers who are most comfortable in the hutan... of course they do follow lots of pantangs yes, the one time I've seen something for real is in the jungle, jungle is hot. but FYI I do not believe in pantangs. |
