QUOTE(deadfrog @ Sep 28 2010, 04:11 PM) play guitar hero... no need to learn chords, notes, fingers no pain summore. hahaha.. that reminds me of rock band which i think is better.. not to start flame war here lol ts, if u have ps3.. just wait for rock band 3, and get the pro rock band guitar.. u will be playing real guitar on a game while learning guitar and the songs too.. but its still long way till it come out, next year i think.. but that is if u r into gaming and dont mind spending ur dough on gaming and spend on the real guitar on the same time.. the other way i used to learn guitar is that.. learn how to read tabs, pick an easy song especially ones that have simple picking and simple strumming (i think SOAD chop suey is the most suitable), learn it and perfect it then move on to the next song.. dont ever pick a song thats not easy.. not sure its easy or not? watch guitar covers of the song in youtube and judge urself.. or register for class

There's a guy on youtube with username yourguitarsage.
He got loads of acoustic song cover lessons, and those lessons are very noob-friendly.
He is one hell of a cool guy too.
Be sure to check it.
But he always promote his e-book for about 30 seconds in each of his video lol. But that's just a small matter, and that guy gotta eat too right. Hehe.

there isn't really a simple way. everyone here started out playing and working their brains off, sometimes to the point of quitting. there isn't really a shortcut to being a good guitarist.

Well,I dun think that person may quit if he's got a great interest in playing guitar or wanna impress someone But,is self-learning easy?I mean,I dun wanna go for classes as it's way too expensive and I don't know any home tutors,so prefer to learn from Youtube,JustinGuitar etc...is it ok?

Practice makes perfect. There are tons of tutorials on how to play a guitar online. The basic one to learn would be the chords like A chord, B chord, C chord, D chord etc. With such chords, you will be able to play some songs based on chords. You can then venture into learning how to read tabs. This will then help you to play songs where there are plucking and solos. Then for more advanced stuff like making your own song and solos, thats when theory comes in. Link for tutorial (words): Guitar Lessons for All

Some of the mistakes a beginner can make: 1. too occupied with fingerings -they just forget that they are playing music. 2. sometimes they just doesn't listen to the tune -too reliant on tabs all the bloody time 3. neglect to practice the basics 4. too eager to play the advanced stuffs 5. playing a single musical style -mix it up; preference of one kind of music shouldn't make you a snob towards other musical styles

Hi guys I plan to get a guitar soon, and I don't plan to go for official lessons like from Yamaha etc. or from private tutors as it's expensive,so I decide to self-learn.. Is this website a good place to start? JustinGuitarI feel his good, his lessons are arranged neatly, and the website has a nice layout too,so should I just stick with him,or look for others on Youtube? And also,if I don't feel like watching these lesson videos on the computer, are there any shops that sell guitar lessons DVD?So that I can play the DVD and watch in front of the TV?Maybe MPH or Popular got?

Learn Basic Chord: Root (I) - SubDominant (IV)- Dominant7(V)
ex: in C=do
The root chord : C The subdominant chord : F The Dominant7 : G7
Most of the diatonic song can be covered by this 3 basic chord.
