with the amount of apps for n900, they (admin) should create a new category in Technical Support Area.
*
Uuhh...I already got tired of playing tech support for other users for the past 3 days...

Don't think there's any way to replace the default App Manager entirely.
Anyway why you want to do this?

Owh.. i thought there is a setting to make it as default apps man..Since i cannot find it anywhere.. smile.gif

Btw..i want to do that because whenever i install apps from file manager, it will auto using the default app man..
Some apps require additional dependencies..in default manager, it will not installed automatically..

Nway..thanks
*
Just forget about the App manager & open manually FAPman whenever you want to download/update apps.I haven't opened App Manager for a long time.

QUOTE(generalhwh @ Oct 19 2010, 11:33 AM)
ts jump ship to n8?haha..but n8 browser reli kinda sux according to smartphone envy review
*
N8 browser is ok for a less detail site. But if you opened detail heavy site like engadget then it'll start lagging & the display just isn't good as in microB.Also number of people complain that the browser UI isn't friendly enough.

already set, but my phone only vibrate for 2 second then stop vibrating.

ringtone still on. weird
*
Mine vibrate for a while.Check back your settings.
Anyway I mind about the vibration. The excellent LED indicator alone is enough to inform you the incoming sms/calls.
The person who added this in N900 deserve some kind of acknowledgment.Extremely useful.

flash support n8 beats n900??
*
N900 beats N8 is every single aspect of browsing(both browsing + flash)
N900 supports full flash 9.4 while N8 only supports flash lite 4.

in that flash lite 4 supports flash 10
*
Nah..Even though flash lite 4 supports flash 10 in overall regular usage it's won't perform as well as full flash.
C'mon Nokia just add the damn flash 10.1 & the graphic acceleration!!!

I know people from Nokia will read this post!!!

good enough already...most are still not in Flash10 yet smile.gif

Added on October 19, 2010, 1:35 pmWhy when I play Flash Content always will be laggy?
*
Kasi OC kaw2 laugh.gif
Most of flash content plays fine with 850MHz OCed speed.
Flash 10 should enable N900 to play flash content at stock speed because of the graphic acceleration but so far info about flash 10.1 in PR 1.3 mad.gif

Added on October 19, 2010, 2:44 pmbought a cheap nokia X2 yesterday for a friend,

guess what, the camera app saves the image in .NRW (nokia raw) format before processing it and saving a jpeg copy and then deletes the .NRW file.

RAW support in series 40 is here... built-in and hidden from normal user.

anyway the nokia X2 is kinda loud and noisy. beats both n900 and n8 in raw audio loudness, not so much in quality audio reproduction.
*
What pissed me off is it got OTG support shocking.gif

havent try the OTG yet...

kinda weird... series 40 with OTG...
*
It's weird alright and also pour fuel on fire with the Maemo users.
If S40 series phone have OTG have can't Maemo(official) team add official version of OTG for the Maemo5?
The HEN team already proven that N900 is capable of OTG function(I managed to connect my 500GB ext. HD also)

QUOTE(Eiraku @ Oct 19 2010, 03:15 PM)
@aspire: With working Garmin, N8 (or any Symbian phone for that matter) pwns N900 or even N9 (or ANY phones lol, except WM6), unless Papago gets made for Meego or Nokia shocks us all and gives us a working Symbian emulation layer on Meego (aka, run Symbian apps on Meego yeah).

And I stay by my initial view that the N900 is NOT the best primary telephony device around (aka, as a phone, I'll take a Symbian device any time as it has better phone functions) - it's the BEST at Internet Consumption though, with no real rivals at all (except for that little flash 10 problem and almost-as-bad-as-desire battery life). Email is arguably slight better on newer Symbian devices PRIMARILY because push mail actually works (the N900 mail app FAILS at connecting to the internet itself to pull mail if you're not running a constant data connection - it pulls every time you connect to packet data ONLY), but the N900 displays email better for sure.

But if you need one device and need it to surf the web a lot and call people less (and have an extra battery/USB charger), for now the N900 is STILL NO.1 in my book. A shame nobody else has taken the crown from it yet.

In short, I STILL think the N900 SUCKS as a "smartphone", but RULES (for now) as a "computer with bonus phone functions".

@jananan: X2 has OTG? For the love of...
*
As far as I know there is no Symbian emulator in MeeGo.
For now the dev team is only encourage other developers to write app in MeeGo & try it out on Maemo.I think this is to test the QT adaptability?

We all know Maemo 5 phone support sucks. It's fixable with additional software updates. But will Nokia give it?I don't think so.
But it's true that no other phone integrate internet functions as well as N900.The conversation with build in IM,excellent browser & plenty other supports by Maemo community really makes this device unbeatable in internet tablet area.

how the camera of n8 perform?but seems like a lot complain at n8 thread....  hmm.gif

As usual Nokia screwed up a bit on the firmware part.
Plus the "no taking out battery" policy from Nokia making users hard to revive dead phones.
Majority of the users saying the default browsers sucks.I say it's not bad.

@Eiraku yes i tested it works with garmin but i havent tried to lock to satelitte yet. What i like about N900 is with 1 click u connect to the internet your IM auto connect, email auto check and stuff like a computer once u connect to internet everything is ready.

In internet connectivity all i can say Nokia N900 still roxx but like u said as a smartphone it sux. Thats where Nokia N8 superceed N900

Never planned to get 1.
I tested in shop for 20 minutes(till the shopkeeper started stare at me with weird way laugh.gif )
I can say that even though there is minor firmware issue overall it's very good phone for it's value.

I'm the unwelcomed member in N8 thread.

I second this.

Candidate list

1)EIRAKU (sadly his N900 is in bad condition)
2)JANANAN (quite good at this maemo thingy, but then only pops out once in a while oni.)
3)Super Evil Alien ( is quite good candidate i support but oni one thingy dun until kena banned just because of /K/ )

BTW i know Aspire jump ship edi we gonna miss u.

@aspire make sure u organize and attend a TT session for N900 users before u really jump ship
*
Remember with 30% warning I have much more chance to get banned.
I'm lazy to maintain any thread.Beside nowdays I'm busy with other things.Still testing MeeGo on other hand(Still no fix for the bloody shutdown initial problem doh.gif )

100% chance I'll jump ship for the N9 or any other 1st MeeGo based phone but like jananan,I'll still keep my N900.

So this is the grandmaster plan for the MeeGo 1.2
http://wiki.meego.com/Release_Engineering/Plans/1.2

You can expect the MeeGo devices to start rolling out once final v1.2 released.
