Hard to believe you are a graduate with 3 yrs working experience earning just RM1.7K. You seem to be mature in thinking and come across as a well adjusted individual. Maybe you just need to be a little more ambitious. Best of luck in your future endeavor!

hi Dreamer, sorry for my poor english.  i Mean i trade Forex and Silver since 2 years ago. i do monitor and study market and economic everyday.
yes, i do have 3-5month of expenses as emergency fund.  what should i do next?

kenetix bro, i do grab some silver definitely!  i planned to use 15-30% of my RM500 monthly allowance.  any suggestion?
*
i will suggest u spend ur money on 'neccesity' first- medical card or insurances , there is a investment linked plan combined both saving and medical , w get higher interest compare to FD the disadvanges is gotta tie u up with contract for yrs ( depends on the insurance company , term and condition)
think on how u earn ur 1st 100k , then u know how to make it to 1 million =p till then u w have more choices .. step by step
btw , silver price have gone up 30 percent after jim rogers make his speech =p silver is a better choice compare to gold , good luck

Hey Izwanz, if you are looking for a good how-to-invest book, I highly recommend: Warren Buffett and the interpretation of financial statements.

Hi everyone,

i would like some advice on my financial management. These are my details. I have just started working last month.

Salary - 2600 (basic)

Expenses
Food - 300 (working near house)
Transport - 200
Parents - 600
Etc - 100
Internet - 50
Telephone - 50

Extra income
monthly bonus - 325

So, left every month is around 1625

of course sometimes i might use more than 100 in the etc section where i spend for daily uses and etc. I have a very bad habit of spending the money i can 'use'. therefore, i would like to ask whether there is any way to keep my money where i cannot touch and in the other it will generate some extra income for me other than FD?

Hi Hitsu,

Best way to refrain from spending money you can 'use' is to deposit it into a bank account that you have no access to, preferably open up a new account that has no ATM card, no internet banking...

You can also try to open it in HSBC to give you that "rich-and-successful" feel so it can be a motivator in ensuring that you consistently save without 'using' it.

As for what to do with it to generate extra income, you need to start thinking of ways to invest it. And no one can give you a straight answer without having an agenda. You have to look at all types of investment vehicles, understand them completely before deciding.

Good luck!

hey nicholas, other than HSBC are there any other good banks where I can save my money? I finally realize the importance of saving and I want to create a new deposit account where I don't have the ATM. I don't want to self-sabotage myself!

beers and mobilephones are nothing compared to...
5. Car - buy secondhand, make good and keep in good maintenance
A "fake asset" - cost nearly as much as a property (some cars cost even more than medium properties) and yet depreciates + need to be constantly "fed" (maintenance, repairs, etc.) even if unused.

Anyone here wanna argue that it's generally better to buy a new car VS making good back an existing old car (if nothing wrong with the chassis lar) and keep on maintaining? I got the spreadsheets waiting for U + i'm in the auto-industry tongue.gif

Health is Wealth! If you have poor health, how can you earn more $$?
Assumed you work very hard and earn some $$$ but your health is degrading day by day or few years later due to your current food intake... is this worth? You work hard but ended up in hospital and pay all your medical bills to doctors because you are not healthy. Then, what's your bank account you will see in next 5 or 10 years or 20 years? Zero.. all 'derma' bagi doctor. Nooo nooo! You do not want this to happen to you, right?

Hey, the most important meal is the breakfast. Ask me why by PM me and i will tell you why.

There is a good seminar like Millionaire Mind Intensive seminar, 3 days for only RM99.
In internet, search for peak potentials (www.peakpotentials.com)

There is a good book on The Secrets of Millionaire Mind book, author by T. Harv Eker
Highly recommend book to read before you look for finance books. This author shares his failure and success stories.

Let me know if you have difficulties looking for the book.

@ MNet,

Not sure why you didn't like the inter-bank transfer.

Anyway, you...

1) issue a cheque and bank-into your another bank account.. cheque stamp duty Rm0.15

2) bank draft... RM2 service charge

3) go to the counter and tell the teller that you want to withdraw cash but prefer they issue you a cheque. i think it is FOC... I did this before but it was 10 years ago...

Let me know if it works for you. :-)

Try Rule#1 by Phil Town. Basically it's a more layman version of Warren B's value investing concept. That, I consider my first investment book on stocks. It talks about the author experience in picking the right stocks, intepreting financial statements, estimating the fair value of stocks and technical analysis guideline.
