good comparison with those 100% crops.... this is what we call comparison review like how they compare the dc and dslr with 100% crop with studio control environment also with control color/resolution chart.... nod.gif

Ur comment r very funny la..  Don't compare wt them..  So base on wat u said it is fair to compare a phone from a phone manufacturer like nokia to other that not really just doing phone?

So do u mean a phone manufacturer which produce phone suppose to have something much better than others?

In this realistic world, the rule r very simple, u can't compete, u r OUT..  This is reality, not bolehland style "u r very good and u out.."

LOL!!!!!!!

if N8 is cheap enough (like RM1.6k +-) i will most likely buy it without hesitation. I would like to own this and the HTC Desire Z together.

What's this "webkit browser for Symbian^3 coming in December/soon/later" nonsense I hear around here? Symbian^3 is ALREADY RUNNING A WEBKIT BROWSER for God's sake - it's been running a Webkit Browser since even before Symbian^1.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_Browser_for_S60

But if you mean an IMPROVED Webkit browser, well, Nokia has been trying to improve S60 Web since god knows lol. Hope they succeed this time, and I can FINALLY not run to Opera Mobile every now and again.

But yeah, the N8 seems like a good enough phone (I HAVE played with a proto before lol) and the UI (especially the menu system) is MILES better then S^1, trust me, but in the end, it's still Symbian.

Which can be good or bad depending on how you like Symbian.

And the Camera is like nothing I've ever seen on a phone, simply put. At least for now.

As for me, not quite as interested as it lacks a QWERTY hardware keyboard. Now hoping that December will quickly come. I need my Meego fix now - especially after the EDOF disaster that Nokia made with the E7's camera.

Remember that mysterious Ovi Browser thing that Nokia has set up a Twitter account for,  and also created password protected download pages on it’s site?

What the heck is it? Could Nokia be working on it’s own desktop Internet browser? And what would be the point of such browser?

I can’t answer the last question yet. But now I can confirm that Nokia is indeed readying the release of the new desktop Internet browser called, you guessed it – OVI Browser.

The confirmation comes from none other, then the biggest Nokia security service bogeyman – Eldar Murtazin, who says that he now got some playtime with the beta version of OVI browser.

(Update: If you Google translated the linked Eldar’s post – he never mentions Nokia or OVI Browser by name. I guess with all the legal stuff between him and Nokia right now, he’s a bit more careful naming names where Nokia can accuse him of “stealing trade secrets”.  But from the way he talks about the browser from “market mastodon”, connecting to “all time best app store, calendar, contacts and mail..”, and the way he wrote about Nokia before – there’s nothing else he can be talking about).

OVI browser is a WebKit based desktop Internet browser, optimized for the use of OVI services. That includes close integration with OVI Store, and direct access to OVI calendar, contacts, mail and other OVI services.

I’ll have to wait until OVI Browser is launched, and also hear the Nokia’s side of the story of why they think they need their own browser, to decide whether it’s a good idea  or not.

But I must say – they will have to surprise me a lot to make me a believer. Right now Nokia OVI Browser raises much more questions and doubts, then excited anticipation. Do they really think they will be able to compete with Google, Firefox, Microsoft, Apple and Opera in desktop browsers?

Unless, Nokia is on the way of scrapping it’s Nokia and OVI Suites, and is moving to web standards for managing their phones. Now that, if implemented well, will make at a lot of  sense.

I'm sure someone post the picture b4 and it wasn't like Ovi browser BETA. It's more like polished Maemo browser.

The Ovi Browser in the link above is actually this thing: http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/ovi-browser

(darnit sklchan, you beat me to it)

It's a Opera Mini clone for Nokia non-Symbian (S40) phones.

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut, I can be wrong and Nokia MIGHT be preparing something, it's just that I have heard NOTHING about it. What I REALLY think is that they should've just jacked up the RAM in all Symbian^3 devices and just port darned MicroB (N900's browser) to Symbian - that would have been REALLY killer.

The shots might be:

a) From the S^4 shots released a while back
b) From Meego

Do post the screenie back here if you see it anywhere, Leo boss. I'm quite interested in seeing what I've missed.

As far as I love Meego bro, I do think Symbian - as a pure OS - has a good chance against iOS and Android - but Nokia's UI is pulling it back.

At least that's what my Nokia software engineer friend was telling me (from whom I got to test the N8 proto). They're trying to repair the damage done by the last gen S60 people (the guys who worked on S60 up to V5), but it's not an easy task.

As a PURE OS Symbian has one of the best power/resource utilization I've seen in any device. Someone just needs to design a proper UI for it and overhaul the back end to properly support (and take full advantage of) higher end processors and SOCs (and at this, S^3 is a step in the right direction with 3D acceleration - it's just a step taken too late).

The functionality of Symbian is good, only the UI suck. They need to start from scratch for the UI if want to save Symbian. IMO, UI play a major role for new smartphone owners.
