QUOTE(rahuldave @ Oct 1 2010, 07:42 AM) iPhone 4 vs Nokia N8: Camera showdown.http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/30/nokia-n.../#disqus_thread In my opinion, the picture produced by iPhone 4 is somewhat UNREALISTIC and the color is OVERSATURATED. It suddenly become too blue. Nokia N8 win hands down!! Added on October 1, 2010, 6:58 amAnd alot of people who seems expert in photography mentioned Nokia N8 is better. With alot of technical explanation that seems new to me. Like this one QUOTE ITs for the pixelpeeping. They have taken the exactly same amount of pixel from 2 different pixel count pictures. Of course the iphone picture looks better as there's less magnification in it. If you take 2 whole pictures and crop them to same pixelcount iphone loses hands down. Edit: Check the whole pictures only. The pictures where they are pixelpeeping same amount of pixel is misleading. The N8 picture is magnified by 2,4, and any imperfections too are magnified by the same amount. When comparing cameras with 2 different pixelcounts one should allways crop the pictures to same pixelcount. Or else the camera with higher pixelcount is in disadvantage. ps. If you pixelpeep without cropping pictures iphone 3GS will look better than iPhone4. Added on October 1, 2010, 7:00 am QUOTE It's obviously not a DSLR but I can promise you the unaltered photos taken by my 550D have colours similar to the N8... not the iPhone 4. We already live in a world where most consumer displays display over-saturated images out-of-the box, not to mention applying artificial sharpening; can you imagine what would happen if all the still and video cameras of the world started doing the same when capturing images? Techradar review of N8
http://www.techradar.com/reviews/phones/mo...8-692448/review "If you've always used Nokia phones or never played with a smartphone before, then the Nokia N8 works pretty well. You'll get a top notch camera, a good battery life and a more-than-useful media player. But make sure you don't play with another top-end smartphone as you'll soon see the UI, keyboard and internet are all significantly better than the N8's and if you don't use the camera or music player that often you might regret your purchase." I dont care bout the UI (familiar with symbian) or the keyboard (using Swype) but internet browser still helpless?? I know Opera is good but i still prefer stock browser for functionality. Current S60v5 browser is slow and always out of memory....

I am actually glad Nokia improved the UI by trying to minimize the number of layers of menus, prompts etc but I think it will never be as intuitive as iOS or android until maybe overhaul in S^4
You are right about the browser of S60. I owned a couple of S60 phones before and I gave up bcos I could not stand the browsing experience. Heard that Nokia is preparing a new browser update. Hopefully that will be much improved. |

The camera is great, but I'm quite disappointed with the user interface and software. The browser doesn't reform text, the home screen doesn't scroll smoothly like iPhone/Android, but worst of all the widgets must all be length 4?
I own N86 and N82, but I think I'll wait for a Meego smartphone. |

I own N86 and N82, but I think I'll wait for a Meego smartphone. |

I agree the browser is still behind from Android and iOS. The page still loading yet you can't scroll up or down. My SGS can do better.
Heard Nokia currently developing a WebKit browser and the Symbian^3 phone will have it in the upcoming firmware. Maybe November or December. This post has been edited by Leo the Lion: Oct 1 2010, 11:55 AM |
