Hey!! That's the same guy who did mine too lol
Well citigroup would look good on the resume I suppose, experience in a highly recognized international financial corporation is the main reason why I decided to accept anyway. Especially when I might be planning to migrate to Aus next time..

Being a CITIBANKER once, I would say, Citibank is a great place to start your career in banking.

But again, it is all about your attitude and eagerness in learning and taking in as much knowledge as you can from the company.

Citibank is known for their meritocracy appraoch and if you can prove that you can take up more challenges and responsibilities, you could be on a fast track in climbing your career ladder.

HOWEVER, please be prepared for the long working hours. Their motto is "Work Hard, Play Hard", is very much true. Same goes as "Do it right the first time motto", with this, you must be prepared not to repeat the same mistake twice........as this would reflect bad on your credibility.

Also, I may also share, that Citibank is more open in term of letting the capable staff to be rotated between departments etc. Therefore you will learn more and your value would also increase.

This is why, CITIBANKERS is in great demand in the banking industry (the good ones YA!!!).

I spent 5 years in Citi and rose from AM level Q to Mgr within that time. I move to another local bank and carry the title AVP then and now a SM (VP level) at another local bank.

It is all about attitude and trust me, good thing would not come easy. "Working hard and dirty your hands shall give value to you in the future".

Hah really?? Which part of aus were u in? I was in queensland and the lifestyle there actually not that bad, quite relaxing. Working life there definitely better than here lor, unless ur the partying out all night type then maybe aus will be boring for u tongue.gif
I like to travel, so boredom doesn't really bother me in places where malls closes at 5-6pm smile.gif

I get quite racist towards Asians especially when I'm on the road in Msia too!! The feeling to bang their cars is there almost everyday...

Ahh ok, thanks. It'll look bad if I quit even before I started work there, I guess I'll stick around a year and see how it goes. Really deceptive when they advertise the position as corporate banking analyst sad.gif

Well, i've been working in CTSM for around a year, and well...some things that u guys may not know...

by the mid of 2010 or a little later they only gave a pay cut to those who joined after that, and probably some other cuts like annual leave too i guess? most likely it's due to the whole bunch of new hires they are taking for the GCG dept, which could have affected that side of the story?

workwise, is pretty mundane...but which job isn't i guess? thing's aren't that hard to do, really, but it's just tedious (takes about 1 week to learn, 1 month to get used to, and you should be able to walk on your own from there on)

working hours...the earlier you come in, the earlier you can leave...new hires are new hires, so, you can come in at 9am and leave by 6...for around 2 months max, i guess...lol

otherwise, you'll consider yourself lucky if you come in at 8am and could leave by 7pm...lol, i pity some of my seniors which during the due date of our workload and they will need to stay till near midnight to finish the work

employee turnover rate quite high, prolly 2 person leaving every 3 months, on average...it's kinda like this, either u stay for 1 year, many years, or a few months, if u get what i mean, lol...

what else...oh, people are quite nice i guess, but you rarely get to interact around as work will bind you most of the time, except during lunch hour, haha...however, just make sure that you do your work and meet your targets and do it "perfectly" and you should have a pretty ok time there (except that you may feel that you are really tied to your work, lol)

job opportunities after getting in here? i think some had already stated, compliance being the most clearly defined job out there...i am also quite in a dilemma at this point that if i leave, which job should i find, lol...this field is pretty "self-defined"...so, it'll be hard for fresh grads to know where to go if they dun like this field of work...XD

well from what i've observed so far its like what lostwanderer said, though there is one guy in GCG who always hit his target and goes back at 6pm sharp lol.

the pay usually range from 2.4-2.5k for fresh grad, however if you had a previous job for a few months at 3k i'm sure u can negotiate for that amount too.

the AML department is expanding as well, another reason for many new hires. And even though i've been there for less than a month, i agree that the job isn't hard, just tedious and you have to be abit meticulous and cautious in ur work since if you mess up big time and the case you recommended for closure turned out to be highly suspicious, the bank can get fined up to 300+ mil. (quite rare though since there are 4 levels before the case get closed)

if you are interested in a compliance related field as your career, you can join here

I have posted a very extensive blog on my experiences in CTSM as an AML Analyst. I think it should help you make a better decision if you have yet to join the company.
