wow.. the title of " Anti Money Laundering Analyst" sounds so glamorous.

I am wondering if both jobs are the same? if is not, then ask yourself which one do you prefer? in terms of job scope.

Is the picture really u? If yes, i'll give more advises. hehehe js kidding.

To me, both jobs look very boring.

Credit Admin - Basically is the operational dept that takes care of the loan processes, calculation, interest calculation, sending our reminders, etc.
Typically after the merketing ppl get a client, they will send to Credit Analyst (which is diff from Credit Admin) to review and get approval for the
loan. After everthing approved and client accepted, the Credit Admin will follow thru on the adminstrative stuff.

AML Analyst - This is part of the compliance dept, which focus on AML training, AML audit, compliance, execution. I.e. make sure the staff understand and undertake AML guidelines (set by BNM and ur bank).

Altho both are boring, comparitively (assuming u choose to specilised in either one, AML have a better career / future than Credit Admin, in terms of monetary rewards. Cos AML is indeed very specialise compared to CA. Imagine why ER doctors wanted to specialised into surgeons?

But then, i doubt u will specialised, since u just started working (rite?). So, i would choose CA, cos CA is more diversified, and can go to other dept like credit analyst, commercial/corp banking, etc. Ur knowledge from CA (part of it) can still b useful.

While AML, is very specilised, tt it is only useful within compliance / internal audit.

So if u like compliance/legal stuff, choose AML.

Both banks are pretty ok lar.
I would vote for CA w PBB, bcos of the work and higher offer. And look for other relevant jobs after 1-2 yrs.

Being a CITIBANKER once, I would say, Citibank is a great place to start your career in banking.

But again, it is all about your attitude and eagerness in learning and taking in as much knowledge as you can from the company.

Citibank is known for their meritocracy appraoch and if you can prove that you can take up more challenges and responsibilities, you could be on a fast track in climbing your career ladder.

HOWEVER, please be prepared for the long working hours. Their motto is "Work Hard, Play Hard", is very much true. Same goes as "Do it right the first time motto", with this, you must be prepared not to repeat the same mistake twice........as this would reflect bad on your credibility.

Also, I may also share, that Citibank is more open in term of letting the capable staff to be rotated between departments etc. Therefore you will learn more and your value would also increase.

This is why, CITIBANKERS is in great demand in the banking industry (the good ones YA!!!).

I spent 5 years in Citi and rose from AM level Q to Mgr within that time. I move to another local bank and carry the title AVP then and now a SM (VP level) at another local bank.

It is all about attitude and trust me, good thing would not come easy. "Working hard and dirty your hands shall give value to you in the future".

Beware, Citibank isn't same with Citigroup. totally different - benefit, career path and workplace.

if u want work at citigroup, prepare to work at almost every saturday and stay until 9pm daily.

Citigroup just like another Scope (Stan Chad) or AIA share services, hire Malaysian to do Asia Pacific's project with very low pay.

Guys, this isn't way out of topic, but its along the same lines (because ya'll sound very experienced here and I am not):

How do I get a temp job at one of these banks or their subsidiaries? I've already tried emailing their HR emails, how long should it take for them to respond, or does that mean I failed 9/10 (The last time I tried getting a placement thru email, 1 replied (got it), 1 called back after a couple emails to decline, the 3rd never replied).

Or should I just call them at one of their numbers?
I'm a student finishing A levels, so I want to start in Jan 2011 and I know they are hiring now for that time. But temp staff should get hired quick.

BTW TS good luck at your job smile.gif
