Re-download the FW update again and see?

Since you got latest firmware (assume your file is not corrupted) in thumbdrive, why not put back your old HDD (80GB) and update your PS3 to 3.55 first. As I know, if your PS3 already installed latest firmware, PS3 won't request to update any firmware during new HDD installation.

ok.. im still using my original hdd right now.
i tried this.. just to check if my thumbdrive is readable
i put my thumbdrive in the usb slot and click system update>update via storage media - and i got the message "no applicable data was found"
seems like the data(PS3UPDAT.PUP) inside the thumb drive cant be read at all i guess..

err.. is that "Nero Burning Rom" the right err.. tool.. whatever.. to download the FW update?
there r another option like other.. save files.. dont really understand these things.. lol..

just dload it like normal....right click-->save as or just click it and a pop-up will show.

i did it finally.

i did re-download the FW update but this time via sony(asia) malaysia site.
what i did before was just google ps3 update 3.55 & click/download the 1st site i saw.. big mistake!

after i installed the update data to my thumb drive, my ps3 immediately able to read it. so my upgrading process was pretty much successful after that. but it took quite too long to get done.

congrats. .. don't forget to check 1st page too.. i always update info on ps3 firmware news... all download links are there (all legitimate from Sony Playstation website - thx to Ninja@PlayBeyond thread)...

tapi yg x best ni tu hdd yg besar 500gb tinggal 359/465gb lagi lepas upgrade.
banyak btul space kena telan ni...

the console itself using the space for the os/firmware updates/stuffs..
not sure how many % will it take.. the higher ur hd size the more space u'll loose..

so true.. at first aku igtkan, guna PC lg cepat.. rupanya update via PS3 itself is waaayyy faster.

that's the weird thing..why the system file size isn't same?let's say it takes 5%

120gb - 10 % = 12gb

500 - 10% = 50gb?

Eh guys i wanna ask something.I knew that not every game need to install to the internal hard disk,u can juz play when u put in the blue ray disc but can i choose to install it to the internal hard disk for every game?
